GCB

I know what you are thinking - no one could pay Heather to see something about religion and a comedy. Well, I love this show. It is so much fun. Deklin who plays Blake is so handsome. Potts - haven't really gotten to see her since Designing Women. Chenoweth gets to sing and be funny for an hour every week - better than when she was in Pushing Daisies or Glee. I love the accents and the cultural references to Texas of course. All in all, I say: SEE IT.

Safe House

Washington is a CIA guy that everyone thinks as gone rogue. Reynolds is a new to the CIA agent who has the job of running a safe house in South Africa. Farmiga plays a is a good guy trying to find both of them that escaped during an attempt on Washington's life - she thinks the 2 are in it together, but soon discovers the truth.  Gleeson plays the bad guy - I don't really think this will be a spoiler because the bad guy is always the mentor. Washington convinces Reynolds that he was set up and in the end everyone gets shot, but as to who survives you'll have to see it to believe it. All in all, I say: RENT IT

Salmon Fishing in Yemen

Blount (Devil Wear Prada) is a consultant for a wealthy man in Yemen who believes by building a dam and bringing fish to the Yemen his people will find common ground, and there will be peace and understanding. She has recently fallen in love with a soldier who is shipped to war and goes missing. McGregor is a scientist that works for the government and is ordered to help with the project by the Prime Minister to improve relation with Yemen as well as make Britain look better in the media. His marriage has just fallen apart. You see where I am going with this - they will fall in love - oh come on - it was no surprise when you saw the previews. All in all, I say: RENT IT - it was lovely.

Dr Seuss' The Lorax

Brilliant - just as good - if not better than Horton Hears a Who. It is relevant to our times. I even cried a couple of times at the end when the kids were trying to convince everyone to let them plant a tree. The creatures that live in the forest - like the bears - were funny enough to get the kids attention without being too annoying for adults. I really enjoyed this movie and was so glad I got to take the kids. All in all, I say: SEE IT

American Teacher

Anyone know a politician - make them see this. One of the better documentaries on what it's like to be a teacher. I like the mix of the personal stories, the professionals, and the research. Linda Darling-Hammond is in this! If you have done any educational researcher you will recognize her and some of the others in this. I warn you - if you are or have ever been a teacher there are some scenes that will make you guy. I like all the arguments they address - it helps that Matt Damon narrates. I tell you, Finland is looking good after this. What language would I have to speak to work there? All in all, I say: STREAM IT

Timer

Emma Caulfield (Darkness Falls & Buffy) lives with her step sister and works as a dentist. A company has invented a timer that lets you know how long you have to meet your true love - assuming your true love also gets a timer. Her's is blank, her sister's says 40 something years. They are conflicted - they have never been in love and both fall in love with guys with no timers - or do they? It kind of has a sad ending in my opinion. I'm sure the writer was trying to make some statement about love, but I just thought it was a unique concept for a romantic comedy. It's well done & well written. All in all, I say: STREAM IT

Hunger Games (Movie)

I wasn't sure how the film would work since not all the actors where going to be how I imagined them when I read the book, but WOW. I loved this movie: the setting, the music, the actors, the editing, well just everything was how it should have been for the big screen. There was so much emotion - I cried twice. I think after reading all the books and falling in love with the characters I was more attached to them. I didn't cry when I read the books. Somehow knowing what was coming made it so much more! All in all, I say: SEE IT
