Chimpanzee

Beautiful documentary about a family of Chimps that live in the rainforest in Cote d'Ivoire. It shows their migration patterns, what they eat, how they eat, and how they raise their young. Two of the main characters bond and form a strong friendship which is unusual because one is a baby and one is male and the leader to boot. There are some scary moments and some very touching moments. It was very well done. Narrated by Tim Allen made it even better. All in all, I say: SEE IT, take the whole family. Earth Day!

Stone Soup Kitchen

I had the vegan and gluten free blueberry corn meal flapjacks with real maple syrup, toast without butter, earl grey tea, blueberries grown locally, and vegan & gluten free home grilled potatoes served on a local artists plates. I talked about art and feel like I won't need to eat again till tomorrow. It's off Woodard Ave in Atlanta. All in all, I say: BRUNCH ANYONE

The Lady

Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - she is from Malaysia) plays the real life Aung San Suu Kyi. She lead a non-violent campaign in her country of Rangoon/Burma/Myanmar to force the military regime to allow elections. The movie shows her side and her husband's side of the events that lead to modern times. It was a bit long and honestly David Thewlis (Harry Potter) kind of got on my nerves.  You kind of have to have some idea of what has been going on there to understand some stuff, but the movie is a bit more about the couple rather than the struggle. I think Desmond TuTu played himself. What a coincidence also: Luc Besson directed this - who says all he can do is action. All in all, I say: RENT IT.

Lockout: MS One: Maximum Security

Guy Pierce (LA Confidential) plays a CIA agent that is wrongly accused to killing a general who was also a friend. The general was undercover to discover who in the US government is selling secrets. That part of the plot helps explain how he came to be a position to rescue the President's daughter from a maximum security prison located in space. She was there to determine if the prison was operating humanely or not - not. That's the second plot. He takes the opportunity to save the girl, find the secrets, and together they bring down the bad guys in space and on Earth. There is a lot of humor. A lot action. One scene at the beginning I can't wait to play in slow motion. Luc Besson had the idea and helped with screenplay, so you know it was kick ass. All in all, I say: SEE IT

The Space Between

Leo plays a flight attendant who lost her husband during the Oklahoma city bombing. It's 2001 and while in the custody of a minor on his way to a boarding school in LA she breaks protocol and takes him back to New York. The boy is Pakistani and his father worked at the World Trade Center. Although she doesn't realize it at first she is the best person to help him deal with the passing of his father. The music annoyed me, sometimes the boy annoyed me, and sometimes she annoyed me, but they were all frustrated so I can see why. All in all, I say: RENT IT

Once Upon A Time

Yes a fairy tale show - kind of - the evil Queen (Lana Parrilla from Swingtown) from Snow White managed to transform fairy tale land and all it's inhabitants to the real world in a town called Storyville. No one that was together and in love is together and in love. They have to work things out like everyone else. For example Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin from Big Love) and Prince Charming are not together. Their daughter (Jennifer Morrison from House) was taken away just before the Queen's transformation. In the real world when she comes to town things begin to unravel for the Queen. Rumpelstiltskin or Mr. Gold is although also an evil character the nemesis of the evil Queen - who FYI has an apple tree in her yard and is the all powerful mayor. Every episode brings a new character, some the audience really has to guess at - others not so much. I have enjoyed watching, but if the creators of Lost make this another strange story with no end in sight - I'm will quit this show. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Who Do You Think You Are

Season One and Two. An hour show that focuses on the ancestry of celebrities. Now I've never been a big fan or groupie or anything, but these are really interesting. You learn history in almost every show. It's kind of cool some the tales that are being told and they are all true without so much dramatics. It got me to check out ancestry.com and I'm addicted - I have over 700 hints left to click on. My family just keeps going and going.
