I don't recall who recommended this but holy crap it was crap. I like her, but I'm not her biggest fan so I didn't care to read a chapter on each of her pets. The autobiography wasn't written in chronological order and didn't seem to serve a purpose. The writing wasn't that great either. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

My Life on the Road

Steinem's autobiography is in a chronological order. I like the beginning section of her youth and her father. I also liked her first years of lecturing and speaking. After those sections - it got super boring and the stories weren't really motivating overall - the stories of other people she has in the book. I don't really about the stories of others - I wanted to read her stories - a huge chunk of the book could have come out. The later years were hard to get through - boring. All in all, I say: SKIP IT unless you are a die hard fan.

The Book of Merlin

It's something TH White wrote after "The Once and Future King." It is convoluted and uninteresting. I skimmed through and didn't have any interest in taking a closer look. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

The Purge: Election Year

Mitchell (Dead of Summer) is a Senator running for office. The night before The Purge it is announced that as opposed to the past no one is exempt like government officials - this is a way the white, male, wealthy majority can get rid of Mitchell who wants to end The Purge. She lost her entire family to it and after the last movie showed that the government was sending mercenaries and troops out to purge the poor, mostly black, population she gets a lot of support. Her team of good guys has Williamson (Underground), Soria (Crank), and Grillo (Wheelman) as you can see from the previews. It isn't as horrific as the other two. The horror scenes are scattered and don't last long. It's mostly about race and politics. Serpico (Army Wives) plays a white supremacist that leads a group of racists out to find the Senator and kill anyone that gets in the way. The Purge in this movie is a metaphor for slavery - hence terms like Founding Fathers being used throughout. Secor (Homicide) plays the opposition. All in all, I say: SKIP IT - even if Grillo's action scenes were good - there is too much humor and it's very obvious what the real point was.

Bleeding Heart

Biel (Spark) is a yoga teacher who we get the sense was controlled by her adopted parents and now her overbearing boyfriend played by Gathegi (Gone Baby Gone). She has recently found her half-sister played by Mamet (Girls) who never was adopted. Who in turn is also domineered by her pimp boyfriend played by Brit Anderson (The Outsider tv series) who is very abusive. Meeting her sister and seeing her situation wakes Biel up and she takes action. It's decent - All in all, I say: SEE IT - even if it is predictable.

Slip the Knife

The third and final Paddy book. Like the first two the reporter Paddy has got the dirt on something serious - the IRA. Her family and her romantic life are throughout in the background. There are also some characters dedicated to other characters, but it doesn't distract from her. It's too bad their aren't more in the series and it's too bad they didn't make a movie about this one like the other two. All in all, I say: READ IT if you read or saw the other 2 otherwise SKIP IT

The Mysterious Benedict Society

The first in a series of books - it is long - really long. I guess in order to give appropriate background on all characters and the beginning of the society. Very the third massive section of the book is the first job the kids have. A groups of smart kids must foil an evil plot. It is written much like Series of Unfortunate Events, but unfortunately those came first. There is a similar bad guy, similar good guys, similar ways of defining certain terms, and so on. All in all, I say: SKIP IT
