My Spy

Available for free on Amazon starring Dave Bautista (Guardians) as a former soldier trying to adjust to being a spy for the CIA. It's for kids, so it's cheesy and has kid humor. There are some continuity issues and it's predictable, but it's a fun little movie. Parisa Fitz-Henley (The Sinner) also stars. All in all, I say: SEE IT - if you have kids.

Dead Lucky

A look at race relations in modern Australia. A thrill seeking serial robber escalates to murder. When he kills a young cop it sets of a series of events that will lead to tragedy for a group of international students. An immigrant is charged with the killing of his boss, but the detective Rachel Griffiths (Six Feet Under) knows there is more to the story. The killer (s) wasn't what I thought. This wasn't bad, but here again a four episode series that could have been done in a 90 minute movie. All in all, I say: SEE IT

The Bletchley Circle: San Francisco

On Brit Box or for 1.99 an episode on Amazon Prime; this follows to of the original UK cast as they travel to America to help find the killer of a friend. They seek the help of two Americans that had jobs as code breakers as well. It's not as good as the original, but it was still enjoyable. I will warn you that it's not really American - it's actually a Canadian cast. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Postcard Killings

On Hulu this international murder mystery stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan (TWD) as an American cop and the father of one of the victims. Someone is killing couples throughout Europe. With he help of a German soon to be retired cop and a journalist, the father is able to make connections that help locate the serial killer. The very end - the last three minutes - are like WTF. I wish they had left that part off. Until then it was an okay movie - there were some small editing/continuity issues. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Portrait of a Lady on Fire

A French film now showing on Hulu instead of the big screen. A wealthy woman's older sister dies and she is tasked to take her place in a marriage to a wealthy man living in Milan. Her mother wants this for her because it will allow her to be in a position to have some freedom and be close to the cultural arts in Milan. The woman is to have her portrait done, so when she arrives to her new home a new bride she will have a familiar face waiting for her. The woman has been difficult and refusing to pose until she meets a new female artist. They fall in love and while the bond between them is being shown to grow the audience gets a peak at what life was like for women at the time. All in all, I say: SEE IT - you will have to read sub-titles and it is a little slow going.

The Baby-Sitters Club

On Netflix, it's the books you read as a kid on the small screen, and it's amazing! Everyone of the girls is how I remember them being described, and there is humor. Alicia Silverstone (Clueless), Marc Evan Jackson (The Good Place), and Mark Feuerstein (Royal Pains) all star as parents, and they do a great job. The acting and writing in this are really well done. I can't wait for season 2. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Feel the Beat

On Netflix, a light-hearted predictable story about a professional dancer that has to go back to a small town to teach the locals. The only good actor in this is barely on screen, Enrico Colantoni from Veronica Mars. It's cute though - it's a dance movie. All in all, I say: SEE IT
