An Inconvenient Duchess

This is a Harlequin Historical - didn't know that was a thing. Amazon describes the plot as: "Perfect strangers are forced by circumstance to marry after knowing each other for only a day in this fine debut novel by Christine Merrill. Lady Miranda Grey arrives at the doorstep of Marcus, Duke of Haughleigh, within weeks of his mother's death. It seems that his mother felt guilty about her treatment of Miranda's guardian when they were both younger. As reparation, she had arranged to introduce the impoverished Miranda to Marcus as a potential wife. Marcus, who has been widowed for ten years, has no interest in remarrying. However, stormy weather forces Miranda to stay the night unchaperoned at his country estate, so Marcus marries her to save her reputation. Unfortunately, Marcus can be a bit bossy and temperamental, and he has a run-in with his new wife later that night. He takes off for London, leaving Miranda behind, and the marriage unconsummated. Miranda is left to deal with difficult servants, a long-neglected estate, and Marcus' estranged younger brother, who suspiciously returns as soon as Marcus is away. Marcus better hurry home, for his manipulative brother is up to something, and the unsuspecting Miranda - and her virtue - are far too vulnerable." All in all, I say: SKIP IT - I liked the part when she was left at the home and she cleaned and organized, but the rest was boring.

Dangerous Kiss a.k.a True Crime

Silverstone (Clueless) is a high school senior who can't wait to graduate and become a police cadet. Her father was a cop killed in the line of duty, and his partner (Nunn from The Legend of 1900) has been helping take care of her. He has also been trying to get her to stop solving a recent murder of a classmate. Dillon (Platoon) is a new officer who helps her with the case. It turns out there is more to him than meets the eye. All in all, I say: SKIP IT - editing was pretty bad, not to mention the acting.

Anamorph

IMDb writes, "A psychological thriller based on the concept of anamorphosis, a painting technique that manipulates the laws of perspective to create two competing images on a single canvas." Dafoe (Platoon) is a police officer that gets the case of a lifetime - a serial killer hurting young girls. The case does him in and years later when he is close to retirement he is pulled away from his desk and back into a serial case. This time, though, it's personal. Speedman (Felicity) plays a cop. Swedish actor Stormare (Armageddon) plays a friend. All in all, I say: SKIP IT - too slow and gross.

Cherry Falls

Mohr (Paulie) is product of a drunken night when his mother was raped by four boys in high school; he gets revenge by killing all the teen virgins in town. Murphy (Clueless) is the virgin, teen daughter of the town sheriff played by Biehn (Terminator). Mann (Revenge) is her boyfriend, who would do anything to save her from the town's serial killer when he attacks the impromptu Lose Your Cherry party. The teens don't want to be the next victims. All in all, I say: SKIP IT - it's pretty bad.

Fatal Error

Sometimes I really like cheesy movies like I sometimes like cheesy books. Sabato (Silent Night) and Turner (Northern Exposure) try to track down a virus in the television movie. The virus infects humans by transmitting a deadly disease through a box that is attached to televisions. We should be afraid of our boxes from comcast and Directv. Wagner (Hart to Hart)  plays a bad guy. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Morgan Spurlock

A documentary filmmaker that puts himself into the big controversial issues. He has a new show on CNN called Inside Man; he literally goes inside the issue. For example, on the episode on gun control in the US he worked at a gun shop in Virginia. On the episode on Immigration, he worked in a Florida orange picking crew. In addition to the work, Morgan gets all the data. He examines documents and data, and through the use of graphics and interviews from people on all sides of an issue he provides the viewer with a multidimensional look at issues that affect Americans. Often he is able to uncover scandalous information, too.

One of Morgan's first successes. IMDb writes, "While examining the influence of the fast food industry, Morgan Spurlock personally explores the consequences on his health of a diet of solely McDonald's food for one month." He vows to only eat McDonald's. Not only that, he agrees that if he is asked if he wants his meal supersized he has to say yes. At the beginning of the movie he goes to a doctor and gets an examine. At the end of his experiment he goes back to the doctor and his health had drastically declined, so much so that his doctor told him he needed to stop or he would suffer from kidney and/or liver failure. He also had highs after eating and lows when he hadn't eaten yet. All in all, I say: SEE IT.

IMDb writes, "Morgan Spurlock tours the Middle East to discuss the war on terror with Arabic people." He asks about their thoughts on America and Americans. He examines documents and uses tons of interviews. It was a bit more "fun" than the last documentary. All in all, I say: SEE IT

IMDb writes, "A documentary about branding, advertising and product placement that is financed and made possible by brands, advertising and product placement." The most interesting case of selling advertising to get money was the piece on a school that has sold a ton of space to get money to support education. There are interviews with other directors and producers that provide a lot of insight into "do people in the industry really want advertisements?" All in all, I say: SEE IT - it was eye opening and funny.

Each episode goes behind the scenes with today's leading figures - celebrities, musicians, comedians, dancers, entrepreneurs - literally chronicling one day in their lives in a half-hour documentary film." This was fun! All in all, I say: SEE IT. I wish it had lasted longer.

My favorite! IMDb writes, "An unscripted, documentary-style program where an individual is inserted into a lifestyle that is completely different from his or her upbringing, beliefs, religion or profession for 30 days." The episode where an atheist and a Christian switch places for 30 days was so cool. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Drop Dead Diva

IMDb writes, "A vapid aspiring model killed in a car crash gets brought back to life as an intelligent, overweight lawyer, hoping to find the meaning of inner beauty." This takes place in LA, but it is filmed in GA. There have been five seasons and the longer the show plays the more soap opera drama there is. All in all, I say: SEE the first two seasons, but stop after awhile.
