I believe I saw this one on Amazon Prime. It's an extremely well done independent film. An Hispanic Californian single mom living with her aged father is tired of risking her life on the streets selling fruit. She also doesn't want to be a small time chef in a Mexican restaurant. She gets work behind the scenes at a Sushi restaurant and fall sin love with the sushi chef and with cooking sushi. Something and someone force her to take the next step to get out of the kitchen by entering a sushi contest. It's really well done - I know I repeat myself. All in all, I say: SEE IT
