Director Jason Reitman

He is the son of a legend (father did Ghostbusters), but all ready surpassing his father in my opinion. He started out with some work on The Office then into Thank You For Smoking, Juno, Up in the Air, and I can't wait for more. My favorite is Thank You For Smoking and not just because I have a thing for Sam Elliot. All in all, I say: SEE THEM ALL.

The Glass Castle

A memoir by Jeannette Walls. It is from the her point of view as a child, so the descriptions and explanations are hilarious. Her parents are crazy - no beyond crazy - there is no word. She catches on fire from cooking her own hotdog meal in a puffy pink dress. One time she falls out of the family car and bleeds from her "snotlocker" as her father puts it. All in all, I say: READ THIS - don't take my word for how crazy her family is.

Edge of Darkness

Mel Gibson is a father out for revenge and the truth. You can not quess from the preview what the cause of his daughters death is - Houston does a good job as always as the bad guy, and I loved seeing Ran Winstone (popular London favorite once TV actor turned motion picture actor in the UK - a voice in newest Beowulf movie). There were so many surprises & I actually called out in one scene - no one could tell because everyone yelled. All in all, I say: SEE IT or RENT IT, but don't let it pass you by.

Don't You Forget About Me

An instant watch on Netflix and if you love John Highes movies you have to see it. Everyone is a fan of at least one of his movies. Sixteen Candles, Breakfast Club, Wierd Science, Curly Sue, Ferris Bueller's Day Off; Planes, Trains, and Automobiles; She's Having a Baby, Uncle Buck, Denis the Menace, Some Kind of Wonderful, and Home Alone. Many at least remember the songs in the movies he did direct. Many of these will last forever - he died in 2009. All in all, I say: RENT IT.

Carriers

A netflix movie with Piper Perabo, who is short lived in this, as is the whole world. It is a virus gone bad - highly infectious and 2 brothers are heading for a childhood retreat on the beach. Everything you think happens does - in the end only 2 out of 4 survive, but are the 2 really going to make it. All in all, I say: SKIP IT too predictable.

That Evening Sun

Set in Tennessee. It is slow paced which is fitting considering the age of the main character and the heat. A man is looking for his past - the life he once had, and he is having trouble moving on. Moving on means living in an old folks home and he is not ready to accept that he has to give up the house & the life he had for so long. Everyone does a good job, but the ending isn't Hollywood. All in all, I say: RENT IT. Rent because there will be a lot of annoying older people in the audience.

Chipotle

Chipotle: Amazing all natural organic food. Food with Integrity policy. I love their chips with a touch of lime salt. My favorite is the burrito with rice, carnitas, sour cream, and cheese. All in all, I say: EAT THERE & SUPPORT THE IDEA.

Medium

Season 6 on CBS. Better than the last season. It hasn't gotten old. I loved the Night of the LIving Dead episode. All in all, I say: SEE IT.

The Book of Eli

A super surprise ending - don't let anyone tell you - find out for yourself - good acting & amazing photography - don't really love the plot, but... All in all, I say: SEE IT.

The Lovely Bones

To see about this film check out this Blog - http://moosemovieblog.blogspot.com

Crazy Heart

This was so good. The acting, the screenplay, and the music. T-Bone won a golden for it. All in all, I say: SEE IT.

Plymouth Barracuda

1964 - there were 64,596 made. I want one!

January Man

Kevin Kline when he was getting steady jobs. He uses unusally means (for the 80's) to catch a serial killer. I forgot how much I like it - it's on Netflix, but I bought a used copy. Funny - Alan Rickman is in it! All in all, I say: RENT IT.

Beekeepers Apprentice

Proper title: The Beekeeper's Apprentice: or on the Segregation of the Queen / A Novel of Suspense Featuring Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes by King. I have just started listening to this - got interested after Holmes movie & I'm still waiting for a memoir to arrive. So far mostly description & no suspense. All in all, I say: I NEED TO FINISH IT FIRST.

Salvador Dali

Archaeological Reminiscence of Millet's Angelus 1935
I think this piece is amazing. The hues, the shadows, and the symoblism. All in all, I say: I MUST GO TO SPAIN TO SEE MORE DALI!

Adam

What a coincidence! I am reading about a boy with Asperger's syndrome and a movie show up called Adam from Netflix. A man with Asperger's syndrone courts a woman (actress from Damages). It was really sweet. All in all, I say: RENT IT>

Fries

I have had all sorts of fried - all over US, Canada, Mexico, and Ireland. My favorite: Checkers fries. Perfect mix of potatoes and spices in my opinion. All in all, I say (for fries): Checkers

Salad & Soup

I have tried Panera, Atlanta Bread Company, O'Charley's, and Doc Green's soup. I like tomato. Of all of the above, I still prefer Doc Greens. I also prefer their caesar salad too. All in all, I say (for soup & salad combo): Doc Greens

the curious incident of the dog in the night-time

Reading this now & wow. It is written from the point of view of a boy who is autistic. All the chapters are prime numbers and it's a murder mystery. Loving it! Quick read & a good listen if you need a book for the road. All in all, (not done) but I say: READ IT.

Peeled

Another book from Bauer (loved Hope was Here). Not all about apples as one might think. Actually, it is about the power of fear and the power of the press. The whole book is a metaphor and an easy read. A young adult novel. All in all, I say: READ IT.

Catching Fire

A young adult novel and sequel to The Hunger Games (part of a trilogy) is a "between" book. Not great but you need it to get from book one to book three. The first one was excellent & new. It is a 1984ish type book. All in all, I say: READ ALL THREE.

The Help

Finally, a book about segregation in the south from the point of view of someone that isn't white. Most of the chapters in this book are from the point of view of black maid/nannys in the south. I loved it - I laughed - yes, I also cried. All in all, I say: READ IT.

Trucker

This was a good Netflix instant watch. I feel in like with Michelle Monaghan when I saw Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang. Nathan Fillion (from TVs castle) doesn't get any - which is frustrating - but not the point of the movie. I thought it was well scripted & directed. All in all, I say: SEE IT.

Leap Year

I'm so happy to see Matthew Goode again - last time was the Watchmen. This was a light hearted romanic comedy - those of you that have been to Ireland are going to have to ignore some of the settings. They say they are in Dingle, but we all know that's not entirely true. Leaving that aside it was cute. All in all, I say: RENT.

Young Victoria

Paul Bettany did a good job in this. I'm so glad he also does American films - can't wait for Legion. I thought Emily did an excellent job, and I loved the scenary & costumes. The movie was what it says it is - a story of a young Victoria. All in all, I say: RENT.

Daybreakers

As far as vampire movies go - not so great. It does try to answer the question - what if they outnumbered humans? With such a great cast it is a pitty they didn't have a better screenplay. Playing up the automobiles was probably an idea to get younger generations interested, but it was a waste. All in all I say: RENT.
