The Colony

This is an apocalyptic film. IMDb writes, "Forced underground by the next ice age, a struggling outpost of survivors must fight to preserve humanity against a threat even more savage than nature." The more savage threat other than the flu - cannibals. Most of the movie is just sweeping snow scenes and people walking in the snow. The part of the film with people talking and fighting seemed to only last 30-45 minutes. Fishburne (Hannibal) is the leader. Paxton (Aliens) is the second in command. Zegers (The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones) is the one that will lead the remaining people from the colony to safety. Sullivan (Rookie Blue) is Zegers girlfriend in the movie. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Lover Avenged: Black Dagger Brotherhood 7

Amazon describes the plot as: "Rehvenge is used to living in the shadows and dealing with the roughest night walkers around—including the Black Dagger Brotherhood. As his secret identity as a sympath is threatened, he turns to the only light in his ever darkening world—a female vampire untouched by corruption, who’s the only thing standing between him and eternal damnation." This book was the longest so far - well over 500 pages. There was nothing for me to skip over - everything was essential to the plot as well as the future plots of other books in the series. If you are into the series, buck it up and read this to understand the next one. The King is blind by the end of this book which I'm sure is going to be significant somehow later. Rev is made King of the sympaths which will definitely be important later. Xhex is kidnapped by Lash, so guess who is going to risk his life to go save her - John Matthew - which is a problem because the last guy that tried to save her was killed - the Brother that was exiled because he loved her. There is a war coming and I think all the pieces are falling into place. Also there is some foreshadowing that a female might actually be allowed to join the Brotherhood - shock, gasp! All in all, I say: READ IT if you read the others - otherwise SKIP IT

RED 2

DC Comics has created a sequel. Retired Extremely Dangerous 2 - takes the surviving characters from the first movie and puts them in harms way again. This time the group is being blamed for helping a scientist smuggle a weapon of mass destruction into Moscow, Russia. Everyone wants them dead of course. Willis - born in West Germany by the way- (The Cold LIght of Day), Malkovich (Being John Malkovich), Mirren (The Queen), Cox (Troy) and Zeta-Jones (Chicago) are all former CIA or KGB operatives. Korean actor, Byung-hun Lee (The Good, the Bad, the Weird) is an assassin hired by CIA to take out Willis. He does all the big action, martial arts scenes. Thewlis (Seven Years in Tibet) plays a Frenchman code named the Frog who helps the group get information. Hopkins (Silence of the Lambs) is the crazy, mad scientist. The agent from the last movie (Urban from Dredd) is not in the film instead McDonough (Star Trek: First Contact) plays a CIA operative out to get the group. The comedy is good just like the last. There is one really memorable scene.
M: If there's one thing I'm good at that's women and covert ops.
W: That's two things.
L: No...grasshopper. It's not.
I saw it at AMC, but I think it will be just as good on small screen.
All in all, I say: SEE IT - if you saw the first otherwise - SKIP IT

Volcano

I like disaster movies especially from the 90s. This one was playing on Showtime recently. Heche (Men in Trees) is a scientist studying some strange events in downtown LA. She comes across some information that leads her to believe the is going to be a volcanic eruption on the tectonic plate under LA. Jones (No Country for Old Men) is the head of the rescue people - whatever the department is called. Once the lava approaches he has to coordinate everyone to get the lava stopped before it destroys all of downtown. At the time there was a lot of racial animosity going on in LA - at the end of the film there is this cheesy thing where a kid says look they are all the same or something like that. All the people are grey because of the ash in the air. Hoffmann (Field of Dreams) plays Jones' daughter. Cheadle (House of Lies) is Jones' number 2. It follows the typical disaster plot, but it Tommy Lee Jones for crying out loud! All in all, I say: SEE IT

Backdraft

A classic Ron Howard (Rush) from the early 90s. I saw this film like half a dozen times when I worked at Cineplex Odeon. It was so good - the effects - the acting. Russell (Escape from LA) was back as an actor after being gone a while and looking good - played a Lt. at a firehouse 17 in Chicago. Baldwin (Hawaii Five-O), William, was at the height of his popularity - saw his father die in a fire and put off being a fireman like his brother and father. DeNiro (The Deer Hunter) was being DeNiro - he had a low key part as a fire investigator. Sutherland (MASH), Donald, was was pyromaniac - an excellent and creepy job he did too. If you don't watch the whole thing you have to see the scenes with him - eerie. He is a good bad guy. Leigh (Weeds) was working in city politics and dating Baldwin - she had a small annoying part. They all had great accents - working class Chicago. The city is really out on display in this too. Glenn (Training Day) did a phenomenal job as the fireman that helped raise the two brothers after their father dies. He also has a shower scene which - wow! De Mornay (Rock the Cradle) was the estranged wife of Russell. Gedrick (Iron Eagle) was just starting to be really popular - played a wounded fireman. The fire is the main character and there is a really poetic explanation of fire from DeNiro in a monologue toward the end of the movie. It was really well written, edited, and filmed. All in all, I say: SEE IT - Showtime was playing it this weekend.

Kiss the Girls

I don't really read much James Patterson. I've never read his series with Alex Cross. This was the first movie from that book series to be made. It was really good. Morgan Freeman (Glory) is Alex Cross and he was perfect for this role. Ashley Judd (High Crimes - also with Freeman) is the girls who escapes the serial killer. Goldwyn (Scandal) and Elwes (Princess Bride) are the serial killers - Gentleman Caller and Casanova. I don't know if the movie was good to people that have read the series, but I loved it. I recently rewatched it on Showtime during one of their 90s weekends. Sanders (Glory - also with Freeman) is an FBI friend. Cross is involved in the case only because his niece is one of the abducted girls.
All in all, I say: SEE IT.

He Said, She Said

Classic Kevin Bacon - I loved this movie when it came out - I think I saw it several times when I was working at Cineplex Odeon at Stone Mountain. I recently rewatched it on Showtime - they do some oldies on there.
They write editorials in different newspapers - they always disagree. When the papers merge they compete for the same job only to find that the readers like hearing from both of them. This leads to a spot on local tv. They fall in love. The movie begins with them breaking up and each one goes to a friend and recalls their side of the story. That's the best part - seeing where they both change things - we see things so different from others. Bacon (Footloose) and Perkins (Weeds) are the writers. Lane (The Birdcage) is the tv studio producer. Stone (Casino) is Bacon's ex who is still in his life. LaPaglia (Without a Trace) is the guy secretly into Perkins. All in all, I say: SEE IT - remembers it's the early 90s and go with the flow.
Australian, LaPaglia is aging well.

Reza Aslan & Jessica Jackley

I have seen Reza on Bill Maher's show on HBO many times, and I find his views very interesting. Reza Aslan (Persian: رضا اصلان; born May 3, 1972) is an Iranian-American writer and scholar of religions. He is an Associate Professor of Creative Writing at the University of CA, a Research Associate at the USC, and a contributing editor for The Daily Beast. His books include the international bestseller No God but God: The Origins, Evolution, and Future of Islam, which has been translated into 13 languages, and Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth, which offers an interpretation of the life and mission of the historical Jesus. Aslan's family came to the US from Tehran in 1979, fleeing the Iranian Revolution. He grew up in CA. At the age of 15 he converted to Christianity. He was a teacher at a high school. It was during the summer before he went to Harvard that he converted back to Islam. Aslan was named Visiting Professor of Islamic Studies at the University of Iowa, becoming the first full-time professor of Islam in the history of the state. Aslan lives in Hollywood, California. He was elected President of the World Conference of Religions for Peace, Harvard Chapter. Aslan refers to Al Qaeda's jihad against the west as "a cosmic war", distinct from holy war, in which rival religious groups are engaged in an earthly battle for material goals. "A cosmic war is like a ritual drama in which participants act out on earth a battle they believe is actually taking place in the heavens." American rhetoric of "war on terrorism", Aslan says, is in precise "cosmic dualism" to Al Qaeda's jihad. Aslan draws a distinction between Islamism and Jihadism. Islamists have legitimate goals and can be negotiated with, unlike Jihadists, who dream of an idealized past of a pan-Islamic, borderless "religious communalism". Aslan's prescription for winning the cosmic war is to not fight, but rather engage moderate Islamic political forces in the democratic process. "Throughout the Middle East, whenever moderate Islamist parties have been allowed to participate in the political process, popular support for more extremist groups has diminished." He is married to Jessica Jackley. Jackley was the co-founder and CEO of ProFounder. Prior to ProFounder, Jackley was co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer of KIVA, the world's first micro-lending website. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a 2011 World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leader, and serves as an active board member on several organizations championing women, microfinance, tech, and the arts, including Opportunity International, the International Museum of Women, and Allowance for Good.  All in all, I say: CHECK HIM out on Youtube or HBO OnDemand.

The Wolverine

IMDb writes, "Summoned to Japan by an old acquaintance, Wolverine becomes embroiled in a conflict that forces him to confront his own demons." Jackman (Butter) reprises his role of Wolverine. This film takes place after X-Men: The Last Stand - after Wolverine had to kill Jean Grey - she appears in his dreams (Janssen from Taken 2). Fukushima is the girl in the previews with the pink hair is awesome - she does such a good job and she doesn't even show up as being part of the cast for the next X-Men: Days of Future Past. Sanada (The Last Samurai) gets to show off his talent with a sword. Tee (We Were Soldiers) plays a bad guy like he has too many times before - we don't get to see him in action though. Yamanouchi (The Way Back) plays a bad & good guy - it's complicated - I don't want to give too much of the plot away. American actor, Lee (Red Dawn & Total Recall & Hawaii Five-O) is a ninja - he really gets to show off - a lot & it is so cool.
Written by the guys that wrote: Live or Die Hard and Minority Report - so the screen play is good. It was directed by the guy who directed the remake of 3:10 to Yuma. There is an extra scene a few minutes into the credits. The best part - it is a 10 shirter - yes, he appears on screen 10 times with NO SHIRT!!! All in all, I say: SEE IT. In fact if you haven't already you really need to see all the X-Men films - ALL OF THEM

Daylight

IMDb writes, "Disaster in a New York tunnel as explosions collapse both ends of it. One hero tries to help the people inside find their way to safety." Stallone (Expendables) helps a group of people escape a flooding Holland Tunnel. There are a couple of good shots of the Twin Towers in the end. Brenneman (ER) plays a woman that was leaving NY when the collapsed happened. This is a fun disaster movie. It has all the typical elements of a disaster film and I love, love , love disaster films - even the bad ones. It reminds me of the Poseidon Adventure. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Lover Enshrined: Black Dagger Brotherhood 6

Amazon describes the plot as: "In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there’s a deadly war raging between vampires and their slayers. And there exists a secret band of brothers like no other—six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. And now, a dutiful twin must choose between two lives... Fiercely loyal to the Black Dagger Brotherhood, Phury has sacrificed himself for the good of the race, becoming the male responsible for keeping the Brotherhood's bloodlines alive. As Primale of the Chosen, he is to father the sons and daughters who will ensure that the traditions of the race survive and that there are warriors to fight those who want all vampires extinguished. As his first mate, the Chosen Cormia wants to win not only his body but his heart for herself- she sees the emotionally scarred male behind all his noble responsibility. But while the war with the Lessening Society grows more grim, and tragedy looms over the Brotherhood's mansion, Phury must decide between duty and love." This book had more of the rituals and beliefs behind the vampire society. I don't like stories: movies, books, and otherwise about drug addition, so I didn't like this one at all. Phury is an addict and it just annoyed me. All in all, I say: SKIP IT - the only thing in the overall plot you will miss that is important - Lash is a traitor and several of the important families are killed.

Lover Unbound: Black Dagger Brotherhood 5

Amazon describes the plot as: "The ruthless and brilliant brother Vishous possesses a destructive curse and a frightening ability to see the future. As a member of the Brotherhood, he has no interest in love or emotion, only the battle with the Lessening Society. But when a mortal injury puts him in the care of a human surgeon, Dr. Jane Whitcomb compels him to reveal his inner pain and taste true pleasure for the first time-until a destiny he didn't choose takes him into a future that does not include her..." The series gets weirder with this one. Jane being human isn't granted immortality like the last human a Brother fell in love with - this one is made into a ghost. It's like the author couldn't think of anything else and tried too hard to be different. Vishous was my favorite brother, but not after this. All in all, I say: READ IT - if you are reading the series otherwise SKIP IT - I also skipped most of the flashbacks in this one too - they just seem to distract the reader from the present plot - in my mind. I know she wants to give the reader more background on the characters, but I don't like it.

Assassins Run

Run!!! Literally - run away from this movie. This movie is a disaster - it doesn't matter who is in it or what it is about. All in all, I say: RUN AWAY

Lover Revealed: Black Dagger Brotherhood 4

Amazon describes the plot as: "Butch O’Neal is a fighter by nature. A hard-living ex–homicide cop, he’s the only human ever to be allowed in the inner circle of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. And he wants to go even deeper into the vampire world. He’s got nothing to lose. His heart belongs to a female vampire, an aristocratic beauty who’s way out of his league. If he can’t have Marissa, then at least he can fight side by side with the Brothers....Fate curses him with the very thing he wants. When Butch sacrifices himself to save a civilian vampire from the slayers, he falls prey to the darkest force in the war. Left for dead, he’s found by a miracle, and the Brotherhood calls on Marissa to bring him back. But even her love may not be enough to save him....." This one was a little homoerotic - which made the author's writing better - and gave her more depth. It kind of leaves the reader hanging though. All in all, I say: READ IT if you have read the other three otherwise SKIP IT

Lover Awakened: Black Dagger Brotherhood 3

Amazon describes the plot as: "A former blood slave, the vampire Zsadist still bears the scars from a past filled with suffering and humiliation. Renowned for his unquenchable fury and sinister deeds, he is a savage feared by humans and vampires alike. Anger is his only companion and terror his only passion—until he rescues a beautiful female from the evil Lessening Society. Bella is instantly entranced by the seething power Zsadist possesses. But even as their desire for each other begins to overtake them, Zsadist’s thirst for vengeance against Bella’s tormentors drives him to the brink of madness. Now Bella must help her lover overcome the wounds of his tortured past and find a future with her...."
I didn't get bored with the sections on the Lesser. I was uninterested in the flashbacks, so I skipped those. All in all, I say: READ IT if you read the first two otherwise - SKIP IT

Lover Eternal: Black Dagger Brotherhood book 2

Amazon describes the plot as,"Within the brotherhood, Rhage is the best fighter and the quickest to act on his impulses—for inside him burns a ferocious curse cast by the Scribe Virgin. Possessed by this dark side, Rhage fears the times when his inner dragon is unleashed, making him a danger to everyone around him.
Mary Luce, a survivor of many hardships, is unwittingly thrown into the vampire world and reliant on Rhage’s protection. With a life-threatening curse of her own, Mary is not looking for love. Her faith in miracles was lost years ago. But when Rhage’s intense animal attraction turns into something more emotional, he knows that he must make Mary his alone. And while their enemies close in, Mary fights desperately to gain life eternal with the one she loves…." The plot of this one wasn't as intriguing as the first book. I'll go ahead and tell you Mary has cancer and is dying. Also, the vampires curse is to become a dragon like creature that eats people - usually only the bad guys though. Again, the sex scenes are repetitive just like in book one so those can be skipped. There is one character I think is interesting and I hope the third book will revolve around him. All in all, I say: READ IT if you are going to go through the series otherwise SKIP IT

Dark Lover: Black Dagger Brotherhood book 1

Amazon describes the plot as: "In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there's a deadly turf war going on between vampires and their slayers. There exists a secret band of brothers like no other-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Yet none of them relishes killing more than Wrath, the leader of The Black Dagger Brotherhood. The only purebred vampire left on earth, Wrath has a score to settle with the slayers who murdered his parents centuries ago. But, when one of his most trusted fighters is killed-leaving his half-breed daughter unaware of his existence or her fate-Wrath must usher her into the world of the undead." Ok, I know it sounds a little cheesy and yes there are sex scenes. The sex scenes do get repetitive and you can eventually just skip them to get to the plot. Not the best plot ever, but it's interesting. I think there should be more fight scenes, but the author has gone to some length to a history, folklore, and vocabulary for the culture. She's truly created her own world and she isn't a half bad writer. All in all, I say: READ IT if like vampire stuff.

Devious Maids

IMDb writes, "Four Latina maids with ambition and dreams of their own work for the rich and famous in Beverly Hills." Yes, the poster shows five. That's because one of them is not really a maid. She is undercover to help get her son off the hook for murder. The households they clean for are each unique and funny in their own way. It is drama and comedy like Cherry's other creations: Desperate Housewives and Golden Girls. You can see that this will be fun for one or two seasons and then it will just get more ridiculous like how Desperate Housewives got old after a season or two. Ramirez (Premium Rush), Reyes (Scrubs), Ortiz (Ugly Betty), Sanchez (Without a Trace) and Ganem (The Ghostmaker) play the maids. Show (Private Practice), Irwin (The Haunting), and Cullen (Apollo 13) are the men they serve. Brown (Knocked Up), Klaveno (True Blood), Lucci (All My Children), and Wisocky (Pollack) are the women they serve. All in all, I say: TRY IT - there are some funny parts.

The Newsroom

IMDb writes, "A news anchor's life is stirred up when he's forced to work with a new team of colleagues." Georgia born actor Daniels (Looper) is the anchor, British actress Mortimer (Lars and the Real Girl) is his producer, Waterston (The Killing Fields) is his immediate boss, Patel (Slumdog Millionaire) is his blogger, and Fonda (Coming Home) is the owner of the fictional network ACN. All in all, I say: SEE IT. I love, love Aaron Sorkin (West Wing, Moneyball, Studio 60 on Sunset Strip, Charlie Wilson's War, The Social Network, Sports Night, The American President, and A Few Good Men) can really writes! His monologues and quick reporte are amazing.

Sons of Anarchy

IMDb writes, "A man in his early 30s struggles to find a balance in his life between being a new dad and his involvement in a motorcycle club." Hunnam (Pacific Rim) is the main character. His step-father is payed by Perlman (Pacific Rim). His mother is played by Sagal (Married With Children). Some members of the gang are: Coates (Black Hawk Down), Hurst (King & Maxwell), and Flanagan (Pulp Fiction). All in all, I say: SEE IT - if like Kurt Sutter. It's violent, it's graphic, and it's harsh.

Covert Affairs

IMDb writes, "A young CIA operative/trainee, Annie Walker, is sent into the field to work for the DPD (Domestic Protection Division). August Anderson is a blind tech operative, and is Walker's guide in her new life in the CIA. Walker's cover story is that she works at the Smithsonian Museum." Perabo (Looper) is Walker,  Gorham (Popular) is Anderson, Matchett (24) is her boss, and Gallagher (The OC) is the head of the CIA.

Fehr (The Mummy) sometimes has a role.
Sometimes the mission make sense and sometimes not. All in all, I say: TRY IT - season one and if you like it keep going.

Necessary Roughness

Thorne (Rescue Me) is a therapist for athletes. She starts with a particular football player, moves to his team., and in this season has been hired by an agency to serve their employees and clients. It has comedy and drama. Cohen (Gia) plays a secretive man that kind get all kinds of things taken care of. He likes Thorne's character, but she's in denial. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Major Crimes

This is the show that spun off of The Closer. All the characters are the same only McDonnell's (Dances With Wolves) character is in charge now. The same chemistry is there, the same comedy, and the same writing. All in all, I say: SEE IT if you liked The Closer.

Melissa & Joey

Hart (Sabrina the Teenage Witch) is Melissa. She works for city council, her sister is in jail and her brother-in-law are in trouble for a financial scandal, so her niece and nephew live with her. She is having trouble taking care of them, so she hire Joey played by Lawrence (Blossom). It is a half hour comedy show - the typical plot - they kind of like each other, but are going to ignore their feelings so we can continue to have a half hour comedy show. All in all, I say: SEE IT - it's a lot better than most of the other half hour shows out there. The writing isn't bad and you already know how they act if you have seen their other shows.

Falling Skies

Yet, another show I could have sworn I would have blogged about already!
Wyle (ER) is a history professor and father of three sons. The show begins once the aliens have already arrived, kidnapped a ton of kids, and are on their way to eliminating humans. Wyle's character joins a local Boston resistance - his group takes on a large group of civilians who decide to make their way south. Several seasons later they are in Charleston, South Carolina and he is President of their group. There are three kinds of aliens, and they have several machines and biological warfare techniques to get at the resistance which is currently winning. Patton (The Postman) is one of the fighters who has helped Wyle's character along the way. Someone that started out as a bad guy and has come to being a huge help to the resistance is Cunningham from Stargate: Atlantis. Most of the big fight scenes are skipped, so as to save money I would guess, and keep the show more of a character driven show. All in all, I say: SEE IT

True Blood

I swear I thought I had done a review on this show since I have never missed a season or show?!
Paquin (The Piano) is Sookie - a half fairy from the books of Charlaine Harris. Paquin's real life husband, Moyer (Priest) is Bill a vampire from the Civil War who returns to Louisiana to form a relationship with Sookie. By meeting him, Sookie is put into danger from that point on. Swed Skarsgard (Battleship) plays Eric a viking era vampire who will also fall for Sookie.
Trammell (Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem) plays local bar owner and shape shifter.Australian actor Kwanten (Red Hill) plays Sookie's brother who is a deputy and none too smart. There are several guest stars each season that are recognizable. It's the perfect combination of romance, action, comedy, and mystery. It's addictive. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Simply Irresistible

Gellar (Ringer) is trying to keep the restaurant her mother started in New York up and running, but hasn't been having any luck. One day at the market she meets Flanery (Powder) and falls head over heels. She starts to cook with such emotion that her food is amazing and business picks up. It reminds me a little of Like Water for Chocolate. Flanery is trying to get a four star restaurant up and running, and he is a commitment phobe.  There is magic in it, but if you don't focus on that it is romantic. The supporting cast really makes this simple film. Clarkson (The Maze Runner), Baker (The Good Wife), Buckley (Eight is Enough) and Gilliard (Gangs of New York). All in all, I say: SEE IT

Too Close to Home (Women of Justice Series #1)

Amazon describes the plot as: "Samantha Cash is the FBI's secret weapon. Her methods are invisible, and she never stops until the case is closed. When missing teens begin turning up dead in a small Southern town, Samantha is assigned to help local chief Connor Wolfe find the killer. As they get close to an answer, the case becomes personal. The killer seems to be taking an interest in Connor's 16-year-old daughter, who thinks her dad is getting way too protective. Can't a girl just have some fun?" The bad guy was hard to figure out, but as far as solving the mystery - easy. I skipped through most of the religion. I wasn't bad, but it wasn't as well written as other murder mysteries. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Mr. & Mrs. Smith

Pitt (Fight Club) and Jolie (Salt) are both hitmen - hit people? They marry not knowing what the other does for real for a living. Their bosses find out and plan for them to take each other out. They have other plans because they are in love. In the movie there is a scene where the 2 of them are interrogating someone (Brody from Jennifer's Body) - that guy is wearing a Fight Club t-shirt. Vaughn (Made) plays a friend of Pitt, and Washington (The Last King of Scotland) plays a friend of Jolie. Monaghan (Gone Baby Gone) makes an appearance as does Morrison (House MD). I recently rewatched this and I like the action. Jolie has some bad acting moments, but Pitt does a good job. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Mary and Martha

Swank (Million Dollar Baby) and Blethyn (Little Voice) are two mothers who lost their sons to malaria. They work together to get more money allocated to malaria. Woods (Hercules) plays the father of Swank who knows government. There is a scene where he talks about how if you add all the deaths of every American in every battle and MULTIPLE it by 2 you get the number of children in the world that day every year of malaria. The scene in front of the senate hearing when Blethyn lays out pictures she has taken from her trip to Africa is heartbreaking. She talks about who the kids are and their personalities, then at the end says they all died of malaria and if the committee wants her to wait and come back next year she'll about a million more pictures.Grillo (The Grey) is Swank's husband. All in all, I say: SEE IT on HBO

Turned: The Vampire Journals

Amazon describes the plot of this young adult novel as: "In TURNED (Book #1 of the Vampire Journals series), eighteen year old Caitlin Paine finds herself uprooted from her nice suburb and forced to attend a dangerous New York City high school when her Mom moves again. The one ray of light in her new surroundings is Jonah, a new classmate who takes an instant liking to her. But before their romance can blossom, Caitlin suddenly finds herself changing. A love between the races that will risk both of their lives, and will force them to decide whether to risk it all for each other."
It was free for Kindle and now I'm hooked and want to read all the others. All in all, I say: READ IT

Unfinished Sky

A woman who was brought illegally into Australia from Afghanistan in order to escape the Taliban is sold by the trafficker to an Outback hotel owner to pay off a debt. The hotel owner decides to use her as a prostitute. She escapes badly beaten and raped. Not knowing where she is or where to go, she makes it to an Outback ranch. The owner has been alone since his wife died 6 years ago. Because the immigrant and his wife look familiar he takes her in and forms a bond with her. The only thing I didn't appreciate was the scene with his dog, Elvis. All in all, I say: SEE IT on Netflix streaming.

6 Souls a.k.a Shelter

Moore (Children of Men) doesn't believe in multiple personalities. Her father (DeMunn from The Mist), also a psychiatrist who wants to prove her wrong, and he thinks he found the perfect candidate. It turns out he (Meyers from August Rush) doesn't have multiple personalities; he is possessed. All in all, I say: SKIP IT. The beginning was cool, but once it got in possession I just couldn't take it seriously anymore.

Ring of Fire: tv mini-series

Vartan (Never Been Kissed), O'Quinn (Primal Fear),  and Tracey (Insomnia) are fighting for their lives and the lives of others when an oil drill causes a volcanic eruption. Typically, disaster film for television. First, the introduce the characters and each one has a flawed life. Then, they are all in danger or have a loved one in danger. Lastly, they all survive and find resolution and/or forgiveness. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

The Hairdresser or Die Friseuse

A recently divorced East Berliner is unemployed with a daughter to raise. She  is turned down for a salon job because of her weight and decides to open her own shop. I thought it would be more of a comedy. It was extremely depressing. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Crawlspace

IMDb writes, "A special forces unit sent, to infiltrate Pine Gap Australia's top secret underground military compound, come under attack from unknown forces." The forces they are under attack from are within the facility and the unit was sent as a test. No is who they seem and things are not as they appear. The entire movie takes place in a crawl space literally. Clayton (Three Rivers) plays Eve, and yes, there is an Adam. Australian actor Davey (Spartacus) is one of the special forces guys. All in all, I say: STREAM IT on Netflix if you like Sci-fi. I thought it was interesting.

Maid for Love

A McCarthy's of Gansett Island Series - a romance. Amazon describes the plot as: "Maddie Chester is determined to leave her hometown of Gansett Island, a place that has brought her only bad memories and ugly rumors. Then she's knocked off her bike on the way to her housekeeping job at McCarthy's Resort Hotel by Gansett's "favorite son," Mac McCarthy. He's back in town to help his father with preparations to sell the family resort and has no intention of staying long. When Mac accidentally sends Maddie flying over the handlebars, badly injuring her, he moves in to nurse her back to health and help care for her young son. He soon realizes his plans for a hit-and-run visit to the island are in serious jeopardy, and he just may be "maid" for love." All in all, I say: SKIP IT - I liked the characters ok, but it just was way too unrealistic and I don't like the sex scenes - they were awkward.

State of Emergency

Zombies!!! Available to stream on Netflix, this is an independent film. Hayden (The House Bunny) has mainly done television series and commercials. He was good in this. Stahl (The Blindside), and White (Seance). Most of the others have done nothing or just short films for school and such. IMDb writes, "Chaos consumes a small town when a chemical facility explodes releasing a deadly toxin. Moments after the leak, the town's residents show signs of mutation, causing the military to quarantine the area leaving any survivors helpless and trapped inside. The story follows Jim, a young man isolated within the red zone, as he eludes flesh eating zombies in an attempt to win back his freedom." All in all, I say: STREAM IT if you like Zombie flicks.

Easy Money

I decided to try this because Kinnaman (The Killing) is in it. He is young in this. There are 3 plots that mix at the end. There are several different languages spoken. I just got bored - there wasn't anything that kept me interested. All in all, I say: SKIP IT
