The Wedding Pact

OMG - this was so bad there aren't words. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Bag Man

IMDb writes, "A criminal bides his time at a seedy motel, waiting for his boss after killing several men and making away with a mystery bag." I wanted to see it because of Cusack (Grosse Pointe Blank), but even he sucks in this. I stopped after about 45 minutes. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

First Night

A group of opera singers are hired to perform for a rich man in the countryside. They talk a lot and flirt. I was so bored I got up out of the room and couple of times. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Angels in Stardust

Silverstone (Clueless) is a single mom with two kids who spends all her time looking for a rich man to take her away. When she finds him, he doesn't want kids, so she splits. Burke (Twilight) is an imaginary friend of her eldest daughter - helping her find her way. It could have been shorter. There were several things that could have been left out. I liked the scenes between Burke and the girl. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Doc of the Dead

A documentary about the beginning and the current hey-day of the zombie culture in films and in real life. The film interviews all the greats in the zombie industry. Even though there was very little I didn't already know, it was really well done. And...I love zombies. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Los Ultimos Dias aka The Last Day

IMDb writes, "2013. A mysterious epidemic spreads across the planet. Humanity develops an irrational fear of open spaces that causes instant death. Soon, the world population is trapped inside buildings." It was moving slowly, I didn't like the flashbacks, and the subtitles kept failing. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Prisoners of the Sun

Based on an Egyptian myth, but it takes on the idea that aliens started the empire and are going to return. The first 15 minutes were too painful to continue. Horrible plot and horrible acting. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

The Immigrant

Cotillard (Inception) arrives in the US with her sister. Her sister is detained for TB and she is left to make her own way. She meets up with a power hungry ruthless man, Phoenix (Gladiator) who pimps her out. Her family that is in the US doesn't want to have anything to do with her. She meets a magician, Renner (Hurt Locker) and the fall in love. I couldn't watch the whole thing. It was slow and predictable. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Spoils of Babylon

A comedy hosted by Will Ferrell, so after like 10 minutes I couldn't take it anymore. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

All Cheerleaders Die (remake)

Well, the acting improved from the original low budget version, but the plot didn't improve - not one bit. A witch brings back a group of cheerleaders who died in the altercation with the football, and they seek revenge. It was lacking in continuity. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

If I Stay

If you think you know the plot well from the previews you are only partially right. It's the basics, but this movie has such depths. I was on the edge of my seat - keep in mind I hadn't read the book. The flashbacks were amazing - everything happened exactly when it should have. You really get attached to all the characters. Moretz (The Fifth Wave) really shows her ability in this. She is an amazing actress and still so young. Enos (The Killing) does a great job as the fun loving easy going mom. Leonard (The Blair Witch Project) is the perfect former rock star dad. But what really blew me away was a scene between Moretz and Keach (Sin City: A Dame to Kill For) who plays her grandfather. You will start crying then and not stop util the end. Hell, there were still people crying in the bathroom and in the movie theatre lobby when I left. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Lucy

Super yuck! She is shot up with a drug (saw this in previews) and she is able to do extraordinary things (saw this in previews). And...and then nothing. Zero point. She becomes part of every atom or molecule on Earth. She is everywhere. I've never been so disappointed in a Luc Besson movie in my life. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Wicked Blood

IMDb writes, "Hannah and Amber Baker are trapped in a dark Southern underworld of violence, drugs and bikers. Both live in fear of their "Uncle Frank" Stinson, the ruthless leader of a crime organization." Hannah is played by Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine) who does a good job. She carries the film which can be choppy at times from poor editing. Bean (Legends) is Stinson - he doesn't really do much - he even looks a little sick in this. Purefoy (The Following) plays a biker gang leader. Busey (Starship Troopers) plays a creepy uncle and does a good job at that. Temple (Lawless) plays a loveable uncle. It is a low budget movie, but Breslin and Temple kept me interested. All in all, I say: RENT IT if you've already seen everything else and you have some patience.

Goodbye World

It's' the end of the world - well - things are a but chaotic to say the least. A group of friends converge on an out of the way oasis and work out some issues between them and them & their neighbors. Grenier (Devil Wears Prada), Bishe (Argo), Dhavernas (Off the Map), McKenzie (Southland), Webber (Happy Christmas), Nozik (The Next Three Days), and Hoffmann (Girls) all star. It was clever and interesting. Not your typical end of the world kind of movie. I really liked the characters. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Between Us

Oh my god was this pointless, annoying, and long. I don't even want to tell you who is in it - it was such a waste. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Devil's Knot

Egoyan (Next of Kin) directs a movie about three boys in a small southern town who are murdered by a group of Satanic worshippers. Firth (Magic in the Moonlight) plays a PI trying to make sure the accused don't get the death penalty.  Witherspoon (Mud) plays the mother of one of the boys. Nivola (Selma) plays one of the boys fathers. A lot of the cast is recognizable. Still, it drags. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

All Things to All Men

A story about corrupt cops and a thief. The cast made it seem appealing, and boy was that a mistakes. It just wasn't anything new or interesting. It was kind of confusing. I started fast-forwarding though the scenes. A big let down - there was nothing to keep my interest. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Getaway

A man's wife is kidnapped. The kidnapper wants the man to do what he is told and bring him a young girl. I started fast-forwarding because it was so bad. The filming, the screenplay, and the acting. It was pitiful. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Baggage Claim

A young woman is desperate to get married, but above all she wants a date to her younger sister's wedding. Her friends come up with a plan where as a flight attendant she will meet up with some of her ex-boyfriends in order to get a date and maybe a future husband. Turns out the love of her life is exactly who you will guess it to be. The film is predictable and boring. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

The Giver

Kelly Waters on Amazon summarizes the books as: "Jonas lives in a "perfect" world where war, disease, and suffering have all been eradicated. Everything is in order; everything is under control. The people have no worries or cares. The Community strives for "sameness," in which everyone and everything are the same and equal. To help the Community function as a cohesive unit, each member is assigned a position in society. When Jonas turns twelve, the Community selects him to be the new "Receiver of Memories." Only the "Giver" knows the truth and memories of the past, and now he must
pass these memories on to Jonas."
It was an amazing book - it was so unique when it was released. It poses several interesting questions that one could debate for hours. All in all, I say:READ IT
The movie does a good job, in my opinion, of capturing the essence of the book. You CANNOT get hung up picking out every single detail that isn't exactly like the book. With a book you have access to inner thoughts and you can use your imagination. With a movie they are limited with what they can present.
Bridges (True Grit) does an excellent job as the Giver. Streep (Doubt) is the Elder. Skarsgard (True Blood) is the father. Holmes (Dawson's Creek) is the mother. Thwaites (Maleficent) is Jonas. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Lizzie Borden Took an Ax

Based on the true story of Lizzie who was put on trial for the murder of her parents in 1892. Ricci (Sleepy Hollow) is super creepy. DuVall (Carnivale) plays her sister. Henry (The Killing) is the man who believes she is guilty. McHattie (Watchmen) plays Lizzie's father. Campbell (Once and Again) plays her lawyer. Doyle (Big Love) is a police detective. The music is modern hillbilly rock. It was a made for tv movie, so perhaps it played a little faster on tv with breaks, but it lagged. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Guardians of the Galaxy

IMDb writes, "Light years from Earth, 26 years after being abducted, Peter Quill finds himself the prime target of a manhunt after discovering an orb wanted by Ronan the Accuser." Pratt (Parks & Recreation), Saldana (Avatar), Bautista (Riddack), Diesel (Fast & Furious), Cooper (The Hangover), Pace (The Fall), Rooker (Jumper), Hounsou (Gladiator), Reilly (Chicago), Close (Dangerous Liaisons), Del Toro (Usual Suspects), and Serafinowicz (Shaun of the Dead) all star. Excellent soundtrack, cool effects, funny lines & situations. It was well done - Gunn who also did the remake of Dawn of the Dead screenplay did a job well done. All in all, I say: SEE IT - Kevin Bacon would :)

In the Blood

Carano (Haywire) shows off her martial arts. Gigandet (Easy A), Trejo (Machete), Guzman (We're the Millers), Lang (Avatar), Nolasco (Prison Break), and Williams (127 Hours) all star.
IMDb writes, "When her husband goes missing during their Caribbean vacation, a woman sets off on her own to take down the men she thinks are responsible." I think the writer, director, and editor are to blame for this film. With the actors they had they should have been able to pull it off. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Vampire

IMDb writes, "A biology teacher looks for young suicidal women online to satisfy his taste for blood. Rather than violent, his acts are quite peaceful and always consented."
It was slow and painful to watch - the entire thing seemed pointless. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Kettle Brand Potato Chips: Maple Bacon

These are freaking amazing!!!!!!!!!! They have no dairy. They taste like a little maple and a little bacon and tons of yummy!!! All in all, I say: EAT IT

Earth Balance Popcorn

It is vegan - so dairy free - and it is supposed to taste buttery like the butter spread I buy from them. Well... it is nowhere near as buttery as other non-dairy popcorns. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Skittles Desserts

Flavors like Key Lime Pie and Blueberry Pie - it is delicious. It has no dairy in it and the flavor is only a hint of flavor; it's practically all sugar. Yummy though! All in all, I say: TRY IT
