Deadly Class

On the SyFy channel and based on a graphic novel. A group of dangerous teens attend a school that is preparing them for their future. That future could be the mob, a gang. or a future assassin. I've only seen the first episode, but it's interesting and different. All in all, I say: TRY IT

The Upside

Based on a French film which was based on a true story. Kevin Hart (Ride Along) is a man with a criminal record that gets hired by a wealthy man to be his arms and legs. Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) is the man in the chair trying to figure out life in the chair without his wife. The acting is excellent and the writing is excellent. It's funny and touching. Nicole Kidman (Moulin Rouge) also stars. All in all, I say: SEE IT

A Winter Princess

A Hallmark movie about a Princess who is undercover in a ski town as an event planner. She meets the brother of her boss, and plans the towns big gala. They fall in love and she has to decide her life in her country as royalty or her life with him. It wasn't bad. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Fam

Nina Dobrev (Vampire Diaries) stars in this new half hour comedy. She is getting married and her fiance's family finds out her father isn't dead like she said. He's a worthless father and probably not a great homicide detective played by Gary Cole (One Hour Photo). All in all, I say: SEE IT

Tidelands

An Australian science fiction drama on Netflix about mermaids. Not the cute ones from Disney. These are the things of legend - dangerous Sirens. The show focuses on the half-breeds they have left on land. The locals in town also get wrapped up in things. It surrounds a half-breed that doesn't know she's part mermaid and her return to her hometown after getting out of prison. All in all,  I say: SEE IT

A Dogs Way Home

It's better than the last movie - A Dog's Purpose. It's a little happier - a lot of crap happens to a poor dog that gets separated from his human and tries to find his way home. The acting isn't great - the only thing really good about it - Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World) does the voice of the dog. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Happy!

Season 1 that was broadcast on FX is on Netflix. Season 2 is about to be released. An ex-cop turned assassin gets in the middle of mob business. While trying to stay alive he must also help his newly discovered daughter escape from a serial killer. The one person he can rely on to help him other than his ex wife and ex partner? His daughter's imaginary friend. It's a quick show with some funny and some inappropriate humor. It's hard to look away considering the performance Christopher Meloni  (Oz) gives. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Born a Crime

Trevor Noah narrates the Audio version of his best selling book about his life during and after the end of Apartheid. It is tragic, funny, and extrmemely interesting. All in all, I say: READ IT or LISTEN TO IT

The Last Kingdom

3 seasons ready to be binged on Netflix. It is based on the real history of the creation of Great Britain. It starts in the 800s with King Alfred. The main character is a Saxon and a Dane - he is made up. There is a lot of action and the writing is decent. It's addictive. I think I like it better than Vikings. I can't wait for the next season. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Winter Castle

A Hallmark movie that centers around the famous Ice Hotel. A woman attends her sister's destination wedding and meet the best man. They fall in love. All in all, I say: SEE IT. It's light hearted, upbeat, and the acting isn't half bad.

Fahrenheit 11/9

Michael Moore - documentary (political activist) film maker's movie is a follow-up to Fahrenheit 9/11. He looks at what brought Trump to power and what has happened in our country before, during, and after the elections. It will devastate you if you are unfamiliar to what has been going on in the US since the end of the Obama administration. It will break your heart - it is depressing. All in all, I say: SEE IT - it's truth - everything in it can be backed up by facts and it's important to keep in mind what is brought to the light.

A Midnight Kiss

A woman works as a party planner with her family. Her parents decide to retire, her brother becomes injured, so she has to plan an amazing New Year's Eve party to protect the business. To help out the family, a family friend and former soldier comes to the rescue. They fall in love - it's Hallmark. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Deadwind

A Finnish crime show on Netflix. The plot surrounds a woman that is found dead on a construction site. The investigation leads to other crimes and the misdeeds of many of the characters. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Bird Box

Sandra Bullock (Speed) lives through an apocalyptic "alien" kind of event. She's with a large group that gets smaller and smaller until it's just her and 2 kids. They cannot look at the creatures or they will kill themselves. Some of the theory of this seems a little off or a little too unbelievable. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Dogs

A Netflixseries that focuses on 3 real stories about people and their interactions with dogs. It wasn't exactly what I thought it would be. One of the 3 I skipped all together. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Derry Girls

A half hour comedy on Netflix about a group of high school friends who live in Northern Ireland during The Troubles. They get into all kinds of trouble themselves. It is extremely funny. And well worth binging. All in all, I say: SEE IT

The Princess Switch

On Netflix, a woman travels to a European Monarchy to enter a cooking contest. While there she meets a Princess who wants a "day in the life" of a commoner before her wedding. They look alike so they switch places. It has the same feel as a Hallmark movie. It's predictable, but it was fun and light. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Trevor Noah: Son of Particia

On Netflix, this is a comedy special by Trevor Noah who is now the lead on The Daily Show. It was very funny. All in all, I say: SEE IT

On the Basis of Sex

Mimi Leder (The Leftovers) directed this based on true story of our current Justice of the Supreme Court - RBG. Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything) stars as Ginsberg herself. What she and her family went through from Harvard Law School to her first case in court. Armie Hammer (The Social Network) plays her husband - of whom I knew nothing about. Justin Theroux (The Leftovers) also stars. It was excellent. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Asher

Saw this OnDemand. Ron Perlman (Beauty & the Beast) is a hitman for a local Jewish mob in NYC. When a plot to get rid of the man in charge he gets caught in the middle. Famke Janseen (Central Park Five) is a women he sort of stumbles on and takes an interest in. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't high quality. If you like independent films and Ron Perlman than see it otherwise....All in all, I say: SKIP IT
