Predator Series

Classic 80s action with Schwarzenegger (Terminator). A team of commandos in Central America are being hunted by an alien. One by one they are picked off. The alien is an elite hunter - he and those like him search the galaxy for the world's most dangerous prey that they can hunt. They even put trophies on the walls of their ships. You can see all the technology they have access to like becoming invisible. All in all, I say: SEE IT
In the sequel, the alien goes into the city of LA which is just filled with crime to hunt. Danny Glover (Lethal Weapon) is a cop who fights back and engages in the game with the alien. Gary Busey (Lethal Weapon) also stars. This one wasn't as good as the second, but it's classic 80s science fiction, action, comedy. It was good at the time. All in all, I say: SEE IT
The 2 coolest science fiction creators meet. Aliens from James Cameron Aliens and Predator come together - now in order to get an Alien you have to have one hatch inside a human, so humans are big players in this as well. This one is dark and takes place mostly under ground. The Predator sets up the whole thing in order to prove he is the better hunter. IMDb writes, "During an archaeological expedition on Bouvetøya Island in Antarctica, a team of archaeologists and other scientists find themselves caught up in a battle between the two legends. Soon, the team realize that only one species can win." All in all, I say: SEE IT if you like Aliens and Predator.
This movie makes it seem as though the 2 species are truly fighting over maybe the planet they want to take over. It's been awhile so I don't recall exactly. IMDb writes, Warring Alien and Predator races descend on a rural Colorado town, where unsuspecting residents must band together for any chance of survival." This one has more action than the original AVP. The town is quarantined and some people are trapped into the 2 species. All in all, I say: SEE IT if you saw any of the others.
Two Predators are fighting each other outside Earth's orbit. One is a regular Predator and one is a super Predator. They are fighting each other over something I can't give away. Boyd Holbrook (Logan) stars as a sniper who first comes across the ship and must fight off the bigger predator later. Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight), Keegan-Michael Key (Friends from College), Thomas Jane (Deep Blue Sea), Sterling K. Brown (This is Us), Olivia Munn (Newsroom), Yvonne Strahovski (Chuck), Alfie Allen (GoT), and Jake Busey (Stranger Things) also star. Takes place in Georgia, but really it's filmed in Canada. Lots of action and funny lines. All in all, I say: SEE IT

A Simple Favor

A very good dark comedy from Paul Feig (Spy.) Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect) is a video blogger who accidentally gets involved in an insurance scheme turned murder mystery. Blake Lively (Gossip Girl), Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians), Andrew Rannells (Girls), and Kelly McCormack (Killjoys) also star. I laughed off and on throughout the entire thing. It's classic. All in all, I say: SEE IT - Loved it!

Scott & Bailey

The British version of Cagny & Lacey. Two female homicide detectives work for a special branch (like The Closer) of the Manchester Police Department. I tried it one night on Amazon and got hooked - I've almost finish all 5 seasons. I like the cases, the relationships, the acting, and the overall plot. All in all, I say: STREAM IT

Peppermint

Just as the previews tell a woman seeks revenge for all those that wronged her when her husband and daughter are gunned down. The plot is shaky - it's a little graphic novel like feeling. The only thing this movie did for me was make me wish Jennifer Garner (Alias) was in more action films. It had potential, but I feel like it fell short. All in all, I say: SEE IT - I mean she does a good job so ignore the plot and its faults.

The Nun

Yes, the same demon possessed nun that is in The Conjuring 2. This is a prequel to those films. Taissa Farmiga (daughter of Vera Farmiga from the Conjuring) is a soon to be nun with premonitions that will help solve the case of a curse nunnery. Demian Bichir (Savages) plays a priest who solves these kinds of mysteries for the church. It's funny more than scary. Maybe it was who I went with, but I laughed more than anything. All in all, I say: SKIP IT unless you have the Conjuring movies and then well, go ahead. Might as well see them all.

Being Erica

A Canadian tv show where Erica, who has many, many regrets, is helped by a therapist (more like a time traveling angel) to get her life together. She goes into her past to learn lessons to help become a better person. It lasted 4 seasons and guest starred a lot of people you will recognize from the SyFy channel. All in all, I say: STREAM IT.

Alpha

Once I knew the wolf wasn't going to die I was all for seeing this. A tribe of early humans in Europe goes on a hunt before winter sets in. The son of the leader is believed to be dead. He befriends a wolf and together they journey dangerous lands to get him back to his family. It is a creation story to explain how and why man first domesticated wolf to get dogs. All in all, I say: SEE IT the scenery was amazing.
Classic 80s movie starring a wealthy, brat played by Goldie Hawn (Bird on a Wire) and a down on his luck widower with kids played by her actual partner Kurt Russell (Silkwood). She falls off her yacht and gets amnesia. He takes advantage and convinces her that they are married. Along the way they fall in love. All in all, I say: SEE IT - it's an 80s classic in my book.
In this remake he is the wealthy brat and Anna Faris (mom) is the down on her luck single parent with kids. It's just as funny and good as the original. It's light hearted and fun. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan

John Krasinski (13 Hours) is looking super hot in this action, drama from Amazon. I streamed the entire first season in a couple of days. It's a modern plot with a classic character we all know from other films like Hunt for Red October and a few Harrison Ford did. A former Marine and now CIA analyst who wants a quiet life behind a desk gets sucked into being in the field to find a terrorist. This is amazing. It's well acted, directed, and believable. All in all, I say: STREAM IT

Kin

This is based on a short film and was produced partly by Michael B. Gordon (Black Panther). It also stars; James Franco (127 Hours), Zoe Kravitz (Mad Max), and Dennis Quaid (Midway). A young boy while searching for copper to sell in Detroit comes across two "alien" like soldier and picks up one of their weapons. It works for him, but no one else. He and his older brother who just got out of jail are on the run. It's a cross between a family drama, a road trip movie, crime, and science fiction. It's new and it was interesting. All in all, I say; SEE IT.

The Shop

A group of enteratiners and sports icons meet at a barborshop and discuss...well everything. It's streaming on HBO and it was very good. The discussion were very interesting. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Juliet, Naked

Rose Byrne (Peter Rabbit) is bored with the state of her life - work and love life. To get revenge on her ex-boyfriend, played by Chris O'Dowd (Molly's Game) she slams his favorite singer on-line. This attracts the attention of the singer played by Ethan Hawke (Maudie) who wants to meet her. They fall for each other and their lives change. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. It felt a little flat. All in all, I say: RENT IT.

Victoria & Abdul

Based on a true story from journals that were found way after the fact, and starring Dame Judi Dench (Skyfall). A man from British occupied India comes to the palace of Queen Victoria near the end of her reign. They become friends, but he turns out to maybe be a bit of a con artist. Ali Fazal (Furious 7) also stars along with Eddie Izzard (stand-up comedian). There are some very funny parts, but overall I was bored. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Breaking In

A woman takes her two kids to her recently deceased father's house to get it ready to sell. It's a smart home with all kinds of safety features which will work for and against her when a group of thugs arrive to rob the place. Gabrielle Union (Bad Boys 2) must fight back to get her kids safe. It's predictable. She does a good job acting - the others in this not so much. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Lone Wolf

Jodi Picoult does her research for her books. They kind of follow a formula, but the theme is so detailed and well researched you get sucked in every time. This revolved around wolf packs as well as a family. Two siblings - who couldn't be more different - have to make a decisions on whether or not to pull the plug on their father. The story is from multiple point of views and really well written. All in all, I say: READ IT.

Another Broken Egg

This place is kind of expensive, but amazing. I had a vegan dish with fruits, and granola, and...I just can't stress enough how amazing the food was there. Their service at the location we went to was piss pour, but otherwise - mouth watering. I think this is a good place to go for special occasions for brunch or breakfast. All in all, I say: YES PLEASE

The Chemist

Stephenie Meyer who wrote The Host strikes again with another mind numbing novel. The Chemist is a nickname given to a woman who does interrogation for the US government. She and her partner are suddenly being hunted. She meets a couple of brothers who are in the same situation. Together they realize why they are trying to be eliminated and must find a way to get the bad guys. It's is very, very wordy. There is just so much that doesn't need to be included. The editor of this book did a poor job. All in all, I say: SKIP IT, but if the make it into a movie - see it.

Making It

Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman both from Parks and Recreation produce and host this reality show. It's all about crafts and making things on your own with what you have. Each week the contestants have a quick craft and a longer, themed craft. Each week they can win the challenge for patches. At the end - one winner is picked who wins $$$$. It's funny and fun to watch. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Crazy Rich Asians

Based on a book which I never read. Constance Wu (Fresh Off the Boat - Taiwanese-American) comes from an average single parent household in America. She meets and falls in love with Malaysian Henry Golding (A Simple Favor) a wealthy, upper class man from a powerful family in Singapore. Filmed in Malaysia - so beautiful. His demanding mother played by Malaysian Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) wants to break them apart once she discovers they want to marry. There is tons of comedy. All in all, I say: SEE IT - I laughed.

Mile 22

Peter Berg (Ballers) directs another action movie but I warn you this will NOT turn out the way you think it will. It took me a long time to realize the ending. Mark Wahlberg (Shooter) plays an intelligent borderline autistic analyst who works for Overwatch. An elite group of people that find and solve problems like terrorists. Lauren Cohan (TWD) also stars with John Malkovich (Being John Malkovich). It was action packed. It moves fast. Mark's acting is not so great and I hated the ending. All in all, I say: SKIP IT unless you really just want to see the action and don't care about the ending.
