The Five

On Netflix - a British tv series about a missing child. O-T Fagbenle from Handmaid's Tale, Tom Cullen from Downtown Abby, Sarah Solemani from Bridget Jones' Baby, and Lee Ingleby from Ever After have all grown up wanting to have careers that help others because as children they sent a younger child home so they could play and he never made it home. The free clinic doctor, the lawyer that looks for missing people, the teen shelter owner, and the police detective also get involved in several other criminal conspiracies as they seek to find answer to what happened to Jesse. It is really well done. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Free State of Jones

Based on a true story from Civil War times. I have to be honest it was awfully slow and it was hard to watch McConaughey with his horrible facial hair, so I watched it in fast-forward. It could have been better with different editing maybe. Some of the acting of the others is a little off. All in all, I say: SKIP IT and maybe read about it.

The Orville

Seth MacFarlane's (Family Guy) part comedy, part drama, part science fiction show about a team of explorers in space. Think Star Trek. There has only been one episode, but I didn't hate it. I'm going to give it a go. All in all, I say: TRY IT on Fox.

War Machine

A Netflix movie that I think was supposed to be a comedy. Not so much. I only got about 20-30 minutes into it when I just couldn't take it. A too boring movie about war in Afghanistan. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Sand Castle

Honestly, I didn't get more than like 20 minutes into the movie before I was so bored I just didn't care to continue. It's about war in Gulf. All in all, I say: SKIP IT on Netflix

The Hitman's Bodyguard

Ryan Reynolds from Deadpool is a high profile and very good bodyguard. He loses a client and blames his then Interpol girlfriend for leaking information. She calls on him to help get a hitman to the ICC to testify against a mass murderer. The Hitman is played by Samuel L Jackson from Black Snake Moan. Gary Oldman from The Professional plays the mass murderer. Some of the action is decent. Some of the acting is humorous. I don't think I needed to see it on the big screen though. All in all, I say: RENT IT

I Love Dick

Kathryn Hahn from Bad Moms and Griffin Dunne from My Girl are a married couple. He is much older. They are both writers. He wins a chance to work at an institute with a groups of other artists  in the middle of the desert owned by Kevin Bacon from Tremors. They each discover something about themselves - there are a few other minor characters. It annoyed me. It was irritating and often didn't make sense. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Flower Shop Mysteries

The first book in the Hallmark series. Booke Shields from Endless Love is the flower shop owner and former lawyer. Brennan Elliot from UnReal is the former detective who now owns a bar. They have some chemistry. Shields is a little stiff in the first film,  but gets better. IMDb writes, "Abby Knight returns to her small home town as a NYC lawyer. On the day of her flower shop opening, her car gets damaged by someone fleeing a murder scene. She soon meets a charming bartender and partners with him in the search for answers." All in all, I say: SEE IT
The 2nd movie in a Hallmark trilogy on their mysteries channel. IMDb writes, "Abby Knight is a beautiful ex-attorney and proprietor of Bloomers, a quaint Illinois flower shop. When she receives a mysterious order for black roses to be delivered to the law department of the local university, Abby, having a colorful history with the school and a daughter who is currently a student, decides to deliver the flowers herself. Upon her arrival, Abby crosses paths with an old law school rival, only to find him murdered in his office shortly after their encounter. When Abby's fingerprints are found on the murder weapon, she becomes the chief suspect in a dramatic homicide investigation, finding herself hounded by a hard-boiled detective and pursued by a relentless reporter. When things heat up and start looking bad for Abby, she decides to conduct her own murder investigation, enlisting the support of Marco, a handsome bar owner and ex- private investigator. With Marco's help, Abby gathers and interrogates a list of suspects, including school faculty and their wives and lovers, each having a plausible motive for committing the grisly crime. With a killer on the loose - and a budding romance with Marco beginning to sizzle - the flower shop owner-turned-sleuth struggles to solve the case and prove her innocence, before it's too late."The two of them act much better than the first. All in all, I say: SEE IT

The third and most recent movie in the Hallmark trilogy. IMDb writes, "Abby Knight, ex-lawyer, crime buff and owner of Bloomers Flower Shop, is having a week to be reckoned with. A reluctant bridesmaid at wedding, Abby ends up not just doing the flowers, but having to find out who murdered a wedding crasher.".They are both getting better at their characters. There is still a lack of romance, but maybe there will be another movie in the series. All in all, I say: SEE IT

A Good Job: Stories of the FDNY

Steve Buscemi from Fargo use to be a fireman in NY. He has former and present fireman tell their stories. Some of the worst fires in NY including 9-11. It is very well done and touching. The firemen open up about all sorts of things. It's a documentary on HBO and it is worth watching if you haven't already seen it. All in all, I say: SEE IT

What Ever Happened to Monday

A science fiction movie on Netflix. Glenn Close from 101 Dalmations has a plan to combat overpopulation. Families can only have one child. The health department has a plan for all the other children. Willem Dafoe from Boondock Saints ends up having 7 identical grandchildren - he has a plan to keep them all. Everything seems to be going great....Noomi Papace from Girl with Dragon Tattoo stars as all 7 girls. All in all, I say: SKIP IT - the plot has holes - it just seems violent to be violent.

Sun, Sand & Romance

Tricia Helfer form Lucifer is working in publishing when she should be writing books. She meets an old boyfriend who puts things into perspective for her. Paul Campbell (The Bog Year) is the boyfriend who has been traveling around with no roots for so long after he was dumped he isn't sure he can trust what he feels. This is a Hallmark movie. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Take a Girl Like You

Takes place around 40s, 50, early 60s I think. I don't know exactly because I was so bored out of my mind. Two people like each other. He isn't sure it's love, but wants to have sex with her. She loves him or thinks she does, but she needs to be married. No sex for her without commitment. It didn't hold my interest. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Crewe Train

Amazon summarizes the plot as, "Denham Dobie has been brought up in Andorra by her father, a retired clergyman. On his death, she is snatched from this reclusive life and thrown into the social whirl of London by her sophisticated relatives. Denham, however, provides a candid response to the niceties of 'civilized' behavior. CREWE TRAIN is one of Macaulay's wittiest satires. The reactions of Denham to the manners and modes of the highbrow circle in which she finds herself provide a devastating - and very funny - social commentary as well as a moving story.". It was insanely boring. I didn't find any humor in it at all. Basically, if seemed like a book about an introvert who despite her personality thinks a marriage with a extrovert who needs an extroverted wife would work. It doesn't. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Eat Play Love

A Hallmark movie which wasn't well done. IMDb writes, "Veterinarian Dr. Carly Monroe (Jen Lilley from A Dash of Love) falls for Dan Landis (Jason Cermak from Zoo), the owner of a dog shelter she frequently visits. Unfortunately, Dan is about to marry his glamorous girlfriend and move to New York.". The actors didn't have much chemistry. It seemed forever for anything to happen. All in all, I say: SKIP IT
