The Crazies 2010

This is a remake of Romero's 1973 film - The Crazies. Very well done. Have I ever mentioned how much I adore Timothy Olyphant - in anything & everything. He made this movie along with Radha Mitchell from Pitchblack. Loved it & perfect time for it to be remade. Stay after the credits roll for an small extra - can't wait for DVD release. All in all, I say: SEE IT.

Murat Han

From Bliss - is well Bliss to look at.

Bliss

A Turkish film - a WONDERFUL Turkish film. I worry when Islam is involved that the woman will end up dead no matter what, but wow! Meryem is raped by her father's cousin, but doesn't remember until close to the end. The whole movie her father's cousin is trying to find her to kill her because she has shamed the family by being raped. The man gives his own the task of killing her, but since he is fresh from the war he has had enough of killing - he doesn't and while they run they fall in love. The never kiss - the movie may seem slow if your not in the mood for slow. It was beautiful though. All in all, I say: SEE IT or RENT IT.

What-the-Dickins: The Story of a Rogue Tooth Fairy

A great book by Gregory Maquire. A family is trapped, scared inside their home while a major natural disaster is underway. The guardian finds a way to pass the time by telling the children a story about a creature called "What-the-Dickins" who turns out to be a tooth fairy. There are many confusing times ahead for our hero & for the family. All in all, I say: READ IT or LISTEN TO IT.

I Hate Valentine's Day

Nia Vardalos & John Corbett together again - but not so great this time. Nia acts, directs, and wrote this film. Her character doesn't want to get hurt, so she has a policy of 5 dates & then the relationship is over till she meets.... You get it - right. Predictable. If she just acted & someone else directed it might have been better - well, maybe a better cinematographer - well, maybe a better script. All in all, I say: SKIP IT.

I Sell the Dead

I Sell the Dead - Dominic Monaghan (Lost) & Ron Perlman (City of Lost Children) are grave robbers that are keenly aware of supernatural forces at work. They come across vampires, ghouls, and zombies - and they can make a profit off of all the corpses. All in all, I say: SKIP IT. It wasn't very funny.

Fantastic Mr. Fox

Based on a book by Roald Dahl & boy is it funny. I think more for adults than young kids though. George Clooney, Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, and Willem Dafoe are perfect for the characters they play. Instead of using curse words they say curse - which you might think is annoying, but it's not. All in all, I say: What the Curse, RENT IT.

9

9 is an animated movie based on an award winning short. John C. Reilly and Elijah Wood do voices. It's a postapocalyptic world and 9 hols the key. The ending is wierd and random. It's only an hour and 15 minutes. All in all, I say WAIT TILL IT'S ON TV.

Survivors

On BBC America - Survivors - are that, survivors. An illness has spread and killed almost everyone. This group bands together to survive. An interesting groups of actors - that if you watch British TV as much as I do - you will recognize as TV veterns. Pilot was excellent - background on each character mainly - can't wait to see more. It is on Saturdays here in the US. All in all, I say: SEE IT.

Legion

Paul Bettany (so cute) is angel Michael who refuses to follow God's orders to kill all humans. Ok - so by now you have figured out that the screenplay sucks. Some awesome actors wasted on a bad script with tons of boring scenes. The action scenes are chessy, bad, and poorly lit. All in all, I say: BURN IT.

Valentine's Day

It's the American version of Love Actually. A typical Gary Marshall movie - fun, loving, and predictable. There are some cute parts, some funny parts, and at the end (OMG) an unexpected part. It was good for an easy going Valentine's Day movie. All in all, I say: RENT IT.

Human Target

Ok - the remake of Human Target is ok. I only like Mark Valley (who plays Chistopher Chance) the others aren't working for me - so I tune them out. I miss seeing Valley in comedy. I was devastated when Keen Eddie on BBC was cancelled (the one Sienna Miller was in before every fell in love with her - except me I don't think she has any talent). He was NOT funny in Fringe or Boston Legal. Here he is & despite the bad blue screen the action scenes are cool. In the last episode I watched the fight scene in the car three times. All in all, I say: CHECK IT OUT on Fox.

Past Life

The show has only been on twice. I like the woman's southern accent. I like the idea of a show that is part supernatural & part solving crimes - the best part - it's not another Medium. People are really saying horrible things about it, but I though the second show proved it might get better. I am going to hang in longer. All in all, I say: CHECK IT OUT on Fox.

Fox

My favorite male Bollywood star has a new movie - at last! He stars in Indian films that aren't true traditional Bollywood. The music only appears in party scenes or if the characters go into a club - it isn't like most where all of a sudden the characters break out into song & then they are magically transported into the mountains. Arjun Rampal plays a lawyer that is being set up & he has to find out who is behind it or go to jail himself. He is soooo cute - he is married to a model in real life and has 2 kids, but a girl can dream. Movie was ok - ending was not expected. All in all, I say: RENT IT on Netflix.
