Heathers

IMDb writes, "In order to get out of the snobby clique that is destroying her good-girl reputation, an intelligent teen teams up with a dark sociopath in a plot to kill the cool kids.". Winona Ryder (Stranger Things) and Christian Slater (Mr. Robot) are the young couple in love. This is a cult classic - one of the last of the great 80s movies. Being a Heather I definately saw this film and own this film. All in all, I say: SEE IT
A tv version of the movie - it has been updated. Some changes I like - for instance one of the Heathers is a gay male/cross dresser. Some changes I do NOT like - Veronica is a psycho. All in all, I say: SKIP IT if you liked the movie. SEE IT - if you don't watch and/or don't like the movie.

The Kids are Alright

Mary McCormack (West Wing) and Michael Cudlitz (TWD) are the parents of eight boys during the 70s. An Irish-Catholic family. I've only seen 2 episodes, but so far it's a quick and funny half hour show. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Friday Night Dinner

A British half hour comedy show. Two grown sons go round to their parents home every Friday for dinner. There is an annoying neighbor, an odd grandmother, and more than a few hi jinx. Some episodes are side splitting funny. Tamsin Greig (Episodes) stars as the mother. All in all, I say: SEE IT on Hulu.

Charmed

Holly Marie Combs (Picket Fences), Alyssa Milano (Who's the Boss), and Shannen Doherty (Heathers) are three sisters with magical powers strong enough to defeat demons. They are watched over since the death of their parents. All in all, I say: SEE IT
A rethinking, reworking of the original show on the CW. Melonie Diaz (Purge) stars in this updated version. The first few shows haven't been bad at all. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Venom

Tom Hardy (Taboo) is a down on his luck journalist who comes into contact with an alien parasite while working on a story. Together they manage to prevent the destruction of Earth and defeat the bad guy. Michelle Williams (Janis) plays his girlfriend in this Marvel movie based on the graphic novel. It's got some very funny moments. Some of the special effects are interesting. All in all, I say: SEE IT in theatres.

Falling for You

Taylor Cole (First Born) runs the local radio station and is trying to save it by hosting a bachelor bake-off auction. A man who owns a new app to help small towns in visiting and gets roped into helping. They fall in love because it's Hallmark. All in all, I say; SEE IT

Under the Autumn Moon

Lindy Booth (Librarians) is scouting a facility for a large outdoor company to host retreats for employees. The working dude ranch she visits is about to go under if she can't convince her boss to buy it. She falls in love with the man who owns the ranch - it is Hallmark. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Love Safari

Lacey Chabert (Party of 5) inherits a safari hotel in South Africa from her uncle. The people that work there are worried she will close or sell to someone who doesn't care to maintain the property the way it should be. She falls in love with the zoologist. It is Hallmark so you know the formula. All in all,  I say: SEE IT

Murphy Brown

Candice Bergen (Bride Wars) is a journalist who gives her spin on the current events of the day. The original is very funny - the new one...not as I remember, but I'm going to give it a couple more chances. All in all, I say: SEE IT

The Cool Kids

I'm guessing this will only be the first of many - baby boomer half hour comedy shows. This one is four friends at a nursing home cause all sorts of funny situations. David Alan Grier (In Living Color), Martin Mull (Rosanne), Leslie Jordan (Will & Grace), and Vicki Lawrence (Mama's Family) all star.  All in all, I say: TRY IT if you are bored - it's not horrible.

Single Parents

Four single parents whose children all attend the same elementary school take a 5th, and recently single, father under their wings. They are sort of a support group for each other. Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl) and Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond) make this half hour comedy show funny. If not for them it would be a little bit too over the top. So far, I'm enjoying it. All in all, I say: SEE IT

God Friended Me

An atheist with a blog receives a friend request from God. Believing this is a prank, God keeps sending him recommendations to people and places. Turns out those people need help. Now he faces a dilemma. Things are made even more complicated because the first person he helps is a journalist he has come to have a crush on. All in all, I say: SEE IT - so far it isn't bad.

The Neighborhood

A new half hour comedy starring Cedric the Entertainer. Max Greenfield (That Girl) and Beth Behrs (2 Broke Girls) are the new "white" neighbors in a majority African-American neighborhood. Knowing that the plot is exactly what you think it is. My only issue.. like many half hour comedies there is a lot of loud talking...yelling almost over the audience clapping. Other than that it isn't bad - very sterotyical though. All in all, I say: STREAM IT first to see if you're interested.

The Haunting of Hill House

Carla Gugino (Watchmen) and her husband Henry Thomas (Legends of the Fall) bought an old mansion that no one will go to or work on at night to flip it for a lot of money. The ghosts that live in the house get to her - a mother of five - and they are able to convince her to kill her kids so they can live as ghost happily ever after because she is "sensitive" as are all her kids. This means they can see dead people, feel spirits, and get a sense of someones past or future - they are sensitive to the supernatural. The hauntings, as kids, affect all of them in horrible ways as adults. When one of them dies in the house - they must all relive the events. Timothy Hutton (#Horror) and Michiel Huisman (GoT) also star. All in all, I say: STREAM IT on Netflix - I watched it in one setting.

After the Dark

This keeps being recommended to me on Amazon because it seems like it has something to do with an apocalypse. It does NOT. A group of privileged high schoolers are doing a class exercise on what they would do in the event of an end of the world event - their teacher has a bunker and makes them pick jobs - I know it seems interesting, but it really is just frustrating. It tries to be high brow and cool and falls short. All in all, I say; SIP IT

Wonderstruck

It looked a little over my head at first glance on Amazon, but I finally gave in. Julianne Moore (Kingsman) and Michelle Williams (Dawson's Creek) star. Two children that have lost their hearing are alone in NYC, but in different time periods. They are connected - the two tales are intertwined nicely. The only thing I didn't like about the movie was the soundtrack - the music was annoying. One story is in the 40s and the other is in the 70s - both sad and beautiful. All in all, I say; SEE IT

Not Cinderella's Type

No one in particular in this modern day Cinderella tale that I saw on Amazon is notable. A young girl is treated like a second class citizen in the home of his aunt and uncle after her mom dies. Two boys are interested but only one helps her get out of her bad situation. He gets department of family and children services involved, so a more realistic Cinderella for our time. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

A Star is Born

In 1937 this film was released. A young woman came to Hollywood hoping to be a star. She meets an alcoholic leading man on his way out of the business. With his help she becomes more successful. In order to not hurt her or her career he takes his life. Screenplay was partial written by Dorothy Parker. All in all, I say: SEE IT
Judy Garland (Wizard of Oz) stars in the 1954 remake. Again, a film star whose career is in a downward spiral helps a young up and coming actress who can sing and act. When his behavior seems like it might get in the way of her career; he removes himself. All in all, I say: SEE IT if you are interested in how the movie changed or you like Garland - SKIP IT if you're looking for something fantastic.
This remake in 1976 was altered by Barabara Streissand (Yental) and Kris Kristofferson (Blade) and partial written by Joan Didion (Up Close and Personal). This time they are singer/songwriters and not actors. He doesn't commit suicide - he dies in a car accident. All in all, I say: SEE IT if you like her singing otherwise SKIP IT.
Bradly Cooper (The Mule) does more than act and write in this. The songs in this are good. They both do an excellent job. Lady Gaga does a nice job. It's sad like the original - it's modernized to the times. The supporting cast is excellent - I mean Sam Elliot (The Ranch) as his brother! All in all, I say: SEE IT

Smallfoot

Warning...it's a musical and I didn't know. Channing Tatum (Magic Mike), James Corden (Late Late Show), and Common to name a few lend their voices to characters. A small foot is a human and the enemy of the big feet - Yettie. If it hadn't been a musical it might have been better. All in all, I say: SKIP IT it unless you like kids movies and/or have a kid.

Little Italy

Hayden Christensen (Star Wars) and Emma Roberts (Nerve) grew up together because their parents jointly owned a pizza joint. She goes off to Europe to learn to cook from a master. On a visit home she runs into him again and realizes that she still loves him. It is a little funny and light hearted. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Destination Wedding

Keanu Reeves (Matrix) and Winona Ryder (Little Women) are two very difficult people. VERY DIFFICULT. The movie is pretty much just the 2 of them talking back and forth. On a plane, at a table, on a walk, at a reception, and so on. It's fast paced. I really like the 2 of them so I watched this OnDemand. All in all, I say SEE IT

Magnum PI

Tom Selleck (Friends) is a private investigator in Hawaii. He helps people and solves crimes. I really liked this series when it came out. All in all, I say: SEE IT
Jay Hernandez (Bright) takes the role that Selleck had. The person that's in charge of the estate where Magnum lives and works is a woman in this version. I watch it on CBS App. All in all, I say: SEE IT

The First

Sea Penn (Milk) is a former astronaut and now in charge of missions. Once the first mission to mars ends in an explosion that kills its crew, NASA and Penn have to get it up and running again. It looks into the personal lives of the people involved as well. I couldn't make it through the first season - I found the pacing annoying, the music annoying, and well...everything annoyed me. It's on HULU, but... All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Harrow

An Australian tv show starring Ioan Gruffudd (Fantastic Four) as a forensic pathologist who solves the almost unsolvable crimes. His family is going through a difficult time when the season begins. He also meets a new love. It wasn't bad - it kept me interested. You can watch it on Hulu. All in all, I say: SEE IT

House with a Clock in its Walls

Eli Roth (Hostel) directs this book turned into movie starring Jack Black (Kung-Fu Panda) and Cate Blanchett (Carol) as people with magical powers. Kyle MacLachlan (Dune) is an evil warlock with evil plans. He is using his old house to make that happen. A young boy comes to live with his uncle and gets wrapped up in helping to defeat the evil warlock. It is very childish. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Adrift

Shailene Woodley (Big Little Lies) and Sam Claflin (Me Before You) star in this true story about a couple who sail a boat from Asia to US and get caught in a massive storm. I watched it OnDemand. I was a little irritated with Woodley's performance. It wasn't horrible, but it was fantastic. All in all, I say: SKIP IT
