What We Did On Our Holiday

Pike (Gone Girl) and Tennant (Dr Who) are the parents of three hilarious children. Although they are getting a divorce they put that aside to visit his father (Connolly from Boondock Saints) who is dying. When he does die - the kids get  a brilliant idea. All in all, I say: RENT IT - it'[s pretty funny.

Life in Pieces

A half hour comedy show about a family that is shown in three or four separate parts. It makes it different than Modern Family, but it is just as funny. In fact, it's a bit more fast paced and the wit for adults is there - my kind of humor. Hanks (Roswell), Wiest (Parenthood), Sadoski (Newsroom), and Brolin (Hotel) all star. All in all, I say: SEE IT - very funny

Cooties

Elementary school kids at summer school eat contaminated chicken nuggets and turn into zombies who eat their teachers. Wood (Lord of the Rings), Wilson (The Office), Garcia (Lost), McBrayer (20 Rock) and Pill (Snowpiercer) all star. It's a funny, horror, zombie flick. All in all, I say: SEE IT if you like Zombie movies.

Furious 7

Statham (Transporter) wants revenge for his brother and goes for the gang. Some die, some don't...it's the same crew. The action is the only reason to see the movie - it's always well done. The plot is thin. The end is sad - there is a tribute to Paul Walker. All in all, I say: SEE IT if you have seen the other six otherwise SKIP IT

Geeks Who Drink

Levi (Heroes Reborn) hosts this half hour game show on SyFy. Geeks real and those who play them in tv and movies play a trivia game for prizes. It makes me smile and it's a fun kind of trivia. All in all, I say: SEE IT - your fandom will appear at some point.

Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials

Better than the second book in the series of the same name. It is faster paced and skips all the gross parts I hated in the book. It mixes a ton from the 3rd book too if I am remembering correctly. All the same characters that survived the 1st appear. Esposito (Smoke), Taylor (Ransom), Pepper (Green Mile), and Gillen (The Wire) also star. All in all, I say: SEE IT - if you saw the 1st.

The Player

Winchester (Strike Back) is a former FBI guy who does security, but after his wife is maybe killed he meets up with Snipes (Blade) who promises him an outlet for his revenge. The action is totally awesome and worth the horrible plot. People with a lot of money betting on whether the bad guy or the good guy will win and the local police can't know. Okay...doesn't seem the least bit realistic. All in all, I say: SEE IT if you like to see Winchester without a shirt doing his martial arts thing - no accent though - sorry.

Heroes Reborn

It still looks and feels like a Kring (Heroes) piece. There is something that has brought me back to this franchise that I gave up on after season one of Heroes. It's going to have an ending! I don't like that Levi (Chuck) is a bad guy, but I do like that he's in action again. All in all, I say: TRY IT

Blindspot

Good (Thor) and Stapleton (Strike Back) work together to decipher the tattoos in order to stop attacks. He doesn't get to use his accent and so far we've only seen her naked (who cares - he's the god). The acting is good and the writing is good, and the action is even better. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Minority Report

It's not what I hoped it would be - a next day kind of thing - like the next day after the end of the movie. It's even further in the future, but the tech isn't that cool. The actors aren't very good. The cop shows a lot of skin and her facial expressions are painful. All in all, I say; SKIP IT

The Bastard Executioner

From Sutter (SOA) comes a period piece from King Edward III's reign. A soldier who is sick of war settles down in Wales. There his family is targeted and killed by the local ruling Baron. He and the men that follow him (sort of a Robin Hood situation) inflitrate the ruler's manor in order to discover who was behind the massacre in order to get revenge. The main character is a good fighter, but not very pleasing to look at. Sagal (SOA) plays a witch who annoys the crap out of me. Moyer (True Blood) has an interesting roll - bad guy. I want to see where it's going. I'm going to give it some more time. All in all, I say: MAYBE SEE IT

Camp X-Ray

Stewart (Twilight) is stationed at the base at Guantanamo Bay. There she meets a man who has been in isolation for about 10 years. They form a bond - it is heart breaking, but I think everyone should see. I don't agree with what was done and I don't agree with the camp staying open, but the writer makes a good point: where will they go? All in all, I say: RENT IT

Playing House

IMDb writes, "Childhood best friends Maggie Caruso and Emma Crawford have shared countless adventures growing up together. Now, Maggie and Emma are in store for one of their biggest adventures - raising a baby." Parham (Horrible Bosses 2) and St. Clair (Life as We Know It) both star and created this show. Key from Key & Peele also stars. It is fast paced and humor is smart, quick humor. Many of the references are for my generation. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee

Seinfeld created this show. It's a half hour show on-line where he highlights a car and a comedian in every episode. They drive in a cool car, talk over coffee and/or food, and there are laughs. I only watched the shows of the people I liked and knew. It was good - some were seriously funny. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Ferrell Takes the Field

Ferrell (Step Brothers) plays 9 different positions on 10 different teams during the summer games. He does it to raise money for charity. It has some funny parts. I think it would have been better if I liked baseball. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

That Gal...Who Was in That Thing: That Guy 2

Atkinson (24), Brewster (Criminal Minds), Caldwell (Criminal Minds), Coppola (NCIS:LA), Hart (Chicago Hope), Maffia (Nip/Tuck), Rose (Heroes), and Hicks (7th Heaven) all talk about what it's like to be a supporting actress in Hollywood. It is so so so interesting. All in all, I say: SEE IT on SHO.com

Like Sunday, Like Rain

Meester (The Judge) is a nanny during one summer because she and her boyfriend have parted. She bonds with the 12 year old musical prodigy whose parents pay people to watch and teach him, but they are never around. He understands so much that if he were older the two would have hooked up. It was a sweet and simple independent film. All in all, I say: SEE IT

American Ultra

IMDb writes, "A stoner - who is in fact a government agent - is marked as a liability and targeted for extermination. But he's too well-trained and too high for them to handle." Eisenberg (The End of the Tour) is the stoner, and Stewart (Personal Shopper) is the girlfriend who has a secret of her own. Britton (American Crime Story), Grace (Home), Pullman (LBJ), Leguizamo (Sisters), and Goggins (Diablo) also star. It's not bad - it has some gross scenes, but I enjoyed it and didn't feel like I wasted my time. You could wait till it comes out on video. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Good Morning Killer

Bell (Good Witch) is an FBI agent looking for a serial kidnapper and rapist. Welliver (Bosch) makes a brief appearance - he's the only decent thing about this film which is horribly written and horribly edited. Hauser (Rogue) does a not very good job in this. All in all, I say: SKIP IT - YUCK

Ride

Hunt (Mad About You) wrote and directed and acted in this independent film about a New York editor who is very attached to her only child. Wilson (Meadowland) plays a surf instructor. She is looking for who she is without her son, and he is looking for himself without her. There are some surprising moments. It's pretty well done. Zayas (Dexter) also stars. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Redbubble

It's like the cooler or hipper version of Etsy. They have a good deal on stickers. People upload their art and the site makes it into stickers, bags, shirts, hoodies, pillows, notebooks, and so on. A good place to go for geek and nerd stuff too. All in all, I say: CHECK IT OUT - I'm hooked.

Fatz

This restaurant is located in Winder, GA. It's is southern food. It isn't bad for basics like grits, burgers, and fries. They are known for their chick pot pie. It's a large place. The servers are friendly. All in all, I say: TRY IT if you ever find yourself in Winder.

Black or White

Costner (Criminal) plays a grandfather who has lost his daughter and his wife. He is alone and trying to raise his granddaughter. Her other grandmother (Spencer from Car Dogs) wants custody though. The movie is based on a true story. They were all annoying - their acting was exaggerated - it's was so exhausting that I had to fast forward through a lot toward the end I just couldn't stand it anymore. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Teacher of the Year

IMDb sums it up best: "Surrounded by the eccentric faculty of Truman High School, Mitch Carter wins the California Teacher of the Year award and immediately receives a tempting offer that may force him to leave his job." Key of Key & Peele stars as the principal. Letscher (One and Done) plays the teacher. It is relateable only to teachers. And man oh man, could I relate. All in all, I say: SEE IT if you're a teacher otherwise SKIP IT
"I feel like I've been doing this for hundred years, and I still have one hundred more to go."

I'll See You in My Dreams

Danner (The Slap) has been widowed for almost 20 years and after the death of her dog she makes a new friend and falls in love with Elliott (Justified). Her friends are some famous faces: Squibb (Table 19), Perlman (The Mindy Project), and Place (The Hollars). It is a bit slow, but the conversations are well written. It's kind of sad, but has one of the best happy endings ever!!! All in all, I say: SEE IT - I watched it on DirecTv OnDemand.

Addicted to Fresno

Greer (Wilson) is a sex addict who has to leave her teaching job and moves in with her sister in Fresno to work as a maid. Lyonne (Orange is the New Black) doesn't go far from her comfort zone playing the lesbian sister. The two get mixed up in accidentally death and blackmail. Plaza (Parks & Rec) and Livingston (Swingers) also star. It wasn't bad, but it didn't wow me either. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

The Book Thief

Rush (Gods of Egypt) and Watson (Everest) star as a German couple who adopt a young girl during WWII. It is based on the novel, and it is narrated by the devil, so you have been warned. The movie is the story of the young girl's life and how she became a book thief. It is touching and very well done. I imagine the book must have been much better. All in all, I say: SEE IT - it's currently on HBO.

Public Morals

I admit I only gave it one show - I couldn't even make it through one show. I thought it was bad - writing and acting. I normally like Burns (Mob City) especially when he writes. All in all, I say: SKIP IT - maybe you'll like it if you like period cop shows.

Final Girl

Breslin (Scream Queens) is super cute in this. She kicks butt as a trained assassin. Bentley (Pete's Dragon) is her trainer. He looks good in this - he part is sparse. Ludwig (Vikings) plays a psychopath. It's interesting and I was looking for something different. You have to stick with it and remember it's a low budget thing. All in all, I say: SEE IT - if you want something different than you are use to.

After Words

Harden (Code Black) is a librarian that is out of a job and has plans to kill herself in beautiful Costa Rica. Jarnada (Losers) is a tour guide who needs money to send his very smart daughter to an American school. He has other plans for Harden's character. It is sweet and fun to see the transformation. All in all, I say: SEE IT - I watched on Directv OnDemand.

Maz Jobrani - HBO Special

I'm Not a Terrorist, but I've Played One on TV
He is Persian and his stand up is awesome. He is one of my all time favorites. He makes fun of all Middle Eastern culture and beyond. He makes me laugh. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Aloha

McAdams (True Detective) is amazing. Cooper (Joy) is blah. Stone (La La Land) is not good and way way too skinny - eat something! Krasinski (The Hollars) is the best and does what he does best - acts without words. Baldwin (Caught Stealing) is decent even though his part is small. Murray (The Jungle Book) is not very good. The editing is the problem I think. Crowe (We Bought A Zoo) is the director. He starts the movie like we already know the background and we already know the characters. He also assumes we know everything there is know about Hawaii. I really only liked the scenes with McAdams and Krasinski. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Fear the Walking Dead

And you should because...it's too damn slow. There have been 2 episodes and I'm dying. I get so bored. Blades (Predator 2), Curtis (The Piano), and Dickens (Gone Girl) all star. I like that it's going to focus on one family, but if things don't get going I'm going to get going. This show has to at least get me to October. All in all, I say: SKIP IT - wait until I tell you it's better and worth it.
