Get Low

Filmed in GA - the mountains are nice. The acting is above amazing. Slow paced and every word well thoughout. More to see in the facial expressions of the actors above all else. Loved the music and clothing. All in all, I say: RENT IT when it comes out.

Hot Tub Time Machine

Prepare yourself for the shocker of the year. I liked this movie. There was an on-going gag with Crispin Glover that had me laughing so hard I was crying. All in all, I say: WATCH IT on HBO or Showtime when it comes out.

The Last Song

Another Merchant of Death movie - Nicholas Sparks - he always has to off someone. This time it's the dad, so don't worry there is a happy ending. Miley does ok - the cast is pretty good. I owe another one to Janice. All in all, I say: RENT IT.

After.Life

Ricci wakes up in a funeral home, but is he dead? Spoiler Alert: you keep thinking she is and every now and then you think she isn't. In the end, it turns out Neeson is a serial killer and Ricci is alive. Now it gets worse: she been buried alive, after too much drinking her boyfriend is told by Neeson that he has very little time to save her. He is in a wreck while trying to get to her - and you guessed it - he wakes up in a funeral home, but is he dead? Heck no, and this little kid has been recruited by Neeson to carry on his legacy. All in all, I say; SKIP IT no happy ending and the killer not only lives, but is training someone to take over - horrible. Ricci spends most of the film naked, too - wierd.

Just Wright

This movie was so, so, so cute. It was funny and touching. I really was pulling for Queen's character. Light hearted with a good cast. All in all, I say: RENT IT.

Percy Jackson & the Olympians

Ok, yet another one recommended by Janice. She read the books. I haven't - wasn't interested. The movie was in and slightly unsatisfying. I wanted a happier ending. Poseidon played by former actor of ROME on Showtime - Kevin McKidd. Percy's mom is played by Catherine Keener. Graphics are good - Uma Thurman makes a guest appearance - plot is pretty good too. All in all, I say: RENT IT.

The Green Zone

Well, Janice convinced me to see this. It centers around the conspriacy of WMDs in Iraq. Damon is trying to get to someone that can blow the scandal wide open. Chaos. He doesn't fight like he does in other action films. It's a lot of running around, yelling, and what? more running around. All in all, I say: WATCH IT when it comes on HBO or Showtime.

The Expendables

All your favorite action heroes from the 80s and 90s. There are some cool fight scenes, gore, and some loud weapons. The plot is weak and slow. The action scenes aren't filmed so great. All in all, I say: SEE IT just to see Statham fight!

The Other Guys

All in all, I say [yeah, I can't even wait till the end of this to tell you] NOT to see this. I could only get 45 minutes in. Ray Stevenson is even in this and I couldn't do it. With all the famous actos, Michael Keaton for crying out loud, it was soooooo bad. I've decided it is the writing. SKIP IT.

Finding Bliss

Ok, I bet I lost you already when you read the names of the actors. Maybe I was in a cheesy mood, but this low budget film was cute. I can't believe I just said that about a romantic comedy that takes place in the porn - sorry - adult entertainment world. Oh well, it was cute. All in all, I say: RENT IT and try not to notice Sobieski's wig.

Agora

Rachel's character is a teacher/philosopher. She was taught to question everything. In Alexandria during the break in the Roman Empire the Christians are ruling the city with murder and fear. The Roman Prefect, once her student, can do nothing to save her. She refuses to be Baptized and suffers for it. This movie shows the brutality of the Christian's against science and Jews. Before her end, she discovered that the Earth revoloved around the sun in an elipsis not a circle. All in all, I say: SEE IT - there should be more movies about women who challenge what we have been taught to believe.

The Joneses

A family moves in to an upper class neighborhood and suddenly everyone is trying to keep up with them: buying all the lastest gadgets. One catch - they aren't really a family. They are four adults - salespeople - pretending to be a family to sell goods. Original idea - loved the concept. A tv series from this plot would be fun. David - funny as always - had chemistry with Demi. All in all, I say: RENT IT.

Dinner for Schmucks

It might have been funny...if....umm well I guess not. There were some funny lines, but it was really a love story. This is going to sound wierd, but I loved the dead mice! Shocking I know. All in all, I say: SKIP IT unless you are a big fan of any of the actors then I say: RENT IT. Paul is still too cute!!!

Various

All four of these were either really slow or really stupid. I couldn't get through any of them. All in all, I say: SKIP THEM.

Defying Gravity

Ron Livingston is not his usual funny self. The plot is weird. The special effects are interesting - simple, but good. I can see why it was cancelled. They could have condensed the whole thing and made a movie. All in all, I say: SKIP IT.

The Girl Who Played With Fire

I just finished the book and off I was to see the movie. It was better than the 1st movie and it was better than the book. The screenplay writer took out tons of characters and boring scenes - thank goodness. All in all, I say: SEE IT if you have not read the books. Oh, it's in Swedish.

FAME

Bascially, a modern version of the last FAME movie. It is about students in their four years at a performing arts school. Who makes it and who doesn't. Some characters were shown only once or twice. It felt like a lot was edited out. All in all, I say: SKIP IT just see the original.

Eastbound & Down Season 1

I wish I had not bothered. 1st it is replaying on HBO and 2nd it was bad. I don't think I laughed at all. He is not funny. It is crude humor which I hate - like fart jokes and stuff. A lot of cursing which would not fly at a school. All in all, I say: SKIP IT I didn't want to waste a netflix on the second disc even.

The Girl Who Played With Fire

Larsson's second book. Still have Lisbeth figuring out a mystery. This time it is personal - she is wanted for murder and there is someone from her past that shows up. He gets into the details about the "Evil" that happened when she was 12 or 13. This book had a thousand unnecessary characters. It had so many unnecessary descriptions. IT WAS BORING! All in all, I say: stop while you are ahead and just wait for the movies. SKIP IT.

Changes

The most recent book in the Dresedn files series. Book 12 brings us Harry having to figure out what the Red Court is up too. They say they want peace with the wizards, but he knows better. Also, Susan is back, but don't get excited she has news. Harry is a dad & his baby girl is in the hands of the Red Court. Who will help him and what are they up too? All in all, I say: READ IT if you have read all the other ones otherwise SKIP IT.

Inception

People can go into your dreams and get your secrets. Some people are wealthy enough to learn how to fight this. Leo's character is accused of killing his wife, so he has been taking "dream" jobs to earn the money to hopefully bribe someone. One job with (Ken Watanabe a famouse Japanese actor) he is offered a second chance with his kids for doing what is supposed to be impossible - an inception - what is it you ask? God, I couldn't describe it if I wanted too, but it's cool and it's the premise of the movie. All in all, I say: SEE IT on the big screen or not at all. Special effects are as surprising as they were on the Matrix when you first saw that.

Flirt

The 18th book in the Anita Blake series. A vampire executioner & a necromancer. I liked the first five or so in the series because there was a lot of action and mystery. The last several in the series have been nothing but sex. This one was the shortest ever and had both. All in all, I say: READ IT if you have read all the others otherwise, SKIP IT.
