Janie Jones

Breslin (Zombieland) is a 13 year old left by her drug addicted, ex-groupie mom at a dive bar where her dad's band is playing. Nivola (Mansfield Park) is the struggling rock star that discovers what it means to be a parent. It helps their story that daughter is just as talented as father. It is predictable - maybe a little slow in parts, but I really liked the connection between the 2 - all the crying! All in all, I say: STREAM IT.

Friends With Kids

Jennifer Westfeldt (Kissing Jessica Stein) writes, directs, produces, and acts in this film about 3 couples who have kids and how it changes their life. The catch is that one couple is really just friends, but you can see where this is going. The friends end up falling in love, but that's not the point. You see this movie, to see a great independent film with a cool cast. Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Kristin Wiig (Bridesmaids), Edward Burns (She's The One), and Maya Rudolph (Away We Go). Some of the lines are clever and some are cheesy, but all well delivered. All in all, I say: RENT IT.

I Have Found It

The Bollywood version of Sense & Sensibility. Starring an India fav of mine. She was also in the Bollywood version of Pride & Prejudice. Three girls and their mother are forced out of their family home and must find a way to survive. They meet a few people that will become steady and true friends. There is love - to be sure. In addition there are some very expensive and well done singing and dance routines - very impressive for Bollywood. All in all, I say: RENT IT if you like Bollywood.

Footloose (2011)

The remake everyone said I had to see - well I saw it. Aside from the horrid country music - I liked it! It was well done - up-to-date, and touching in parts. It didn't come across as cheesy at all. For those that don't know the original with Kevin Bacon was about a city boy who loves to dance and listen to music who ends up in the country. The remake was filmed in GA. He challenges the small town laws on no music or dancing. All in all, I say: RENT IT

Son of No Way

Tatum grew up in the projects - son of a dead cop - life in the projects is messed up & becomes worse when he accidently  manages to kill 2 men in the span of a couple of weeks. Years and years later, he's an adult with a wife and kid. He's a cop again. That is where the plot gets bizarre and annoying. It's convoluted and not even worth mentioning. Liotta, Binoche, Holmes, and  Pacino are all SUPER annoying. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Written by the awesome author of Pride & Prejudice and Zombies. He connects real events, people, and speeches with the existence of vampires. Want to know why slavery became such a big business in the Americas? The slaves were used as food for the vampires. With some help from some unlikely friends he becomes President and works to rid America of vampires. What about his assassination? Well, one of his friends use to say, "Some people are far to interesting to die!" All in all, I say: READ IT before the movie comes out.

John Carter

You've seen the preview. A man from civil war era on Earth finds himself transported to Mars. He has to decide what is fighting for and make a decision. Decide to love one who is dead or one who is alive. Decide to go back to Earth or stay on Mars. Decide what is worth living and dying for. It has a Disney Princess and a happy ending. Liam liked the fighting scenes - which were cool. We did not see it in 3D - too expensive. All in all, I say: SEE IT.

5 Star Day

Gigandet (from Priest) loses his girlfriend, his apartment, his job, his car, and almost his A to graduate on his birthday. He wants to see if everyone else born on the same day and same place as he was had the same fate - would would either prove horoscopes are real or fake. He meets four other people and discover they all had a horrible birthday, but each of them dealt with it in some way that touched him. During this adventure he realizes what's important and falls in love - a little predictable - but I've got to say this film was amazing. I give it 5 stars - by the way the horoscope sign was Aquarius (mine). All in all, I say: RENT IT - it was so good.

Hugo

Disappointing. It was like he was trying to copy Jean-Pierre Jeunet. It was more like a biography of George Melies - a French film-maker and one of his movie A Trip to the Moon. The orphan boy seems to have been added to make it more appealing to kids, but I just didn't get how they would like or understand what was going on. All in all, I say: SKIP IT.
