An Invisible Sign

Alba plays a teacher who relies a lot on Math. Her math teacher in 3rd grade taught her to love math and use math in her everyday life. In her everyday life though her father is mentally ill. She uses math to cope to life. Her students and another teacher help her become aware of herself. One of her student's mother is dying. Alba asks the girl what she can do to help. The girl asks if she is sick? Alba isn't sure why the girl asked the question until the girl add, "If you really want to do something for me. Don't get sick. Don't die and leave me alone." Well, I cried and that wasn't the only time in that movie. All in all, I say: RENT IT or WATCH IT on Showtime.

Arthur Christmas

Santa (Jim Broadbent) is on his last Christmas before retiring and everyone assumes he is going to pass the torch to his oldest son Steve (Hugh Laurie). Steve runs Christmas like a military mission leaving to Santa to do very little. His father (GrandSanta played by Bill Nighy) sits around dreaming of the good old days when Santa went around in a sled (Eve) pulled by magical reindeer. When a child is forgotten Santa's youngest son, Arthur, is the only one that is determined to fix the problem and what an adventure. Arthur is James McAvoy. Laura Linney, who strangely keeps appearing in British movies play the voice of the computer. Joan Cusack has a voice in the movie too. It was well done even if the kids got a little bored toward the end. All in all, I say: SEE IT.

Conan

Remake - actually way better fighting than in the original - they got an actor that could wield a sword. He did so in Stargate Atlantis and in Game of Thrones. Plot still stinks and there was more nudity than required. All in all, I say: SKIP IT unless you like some good sword play.

Captain America

The 1st Avenger - Stark from Iron Man - his grandfather Stark is in the film. I'm sure I need not continue. All who are familiar with the Avengers know the story. It was an ok film like the other Avenger movies, perhaps better than Thor, but not as good as the 1st Iron Man. All in all, I say: SKIP IT unless you plan on seeing the Avenger movie & then well, you need to see it.

Whitechapel

Oh, I do love me some English crime series TV. BBC starts season one with a copy cat of Jack the Ripper. I have to wait on my Netflix to see the other 3 shows in season one. The show follows one homicide unit - they have a new DI (Detective Inspector - our version of an Lt ) he relies on his DS (Detective Sargent) our version of a head detective. It's kind of the equivalent to the US "The Closer". All in all, I say: RENT IT if you like British Mysteries like I do. It just gets me that here I am on Season One and in the UK they are in the middle of  Season Three - why does it take so long to cross an ocean?!

The Muppets

So, again the Muppets have split and need to come together to save their studio from an evil oil man. Spoiler: they don't get the studio back, but the audience learns a lot of lessons in this. The cameos make this movie so worth it - Jim Parsons from Big Bang Theory was one of my favorites. Some stuff was way above the kids heads & most of the time I was the only one laughing. All in all, I say: only Muppet fans should SEE IT.

How I Met Your Mother

Love this show - did anyone know that Alyson Hannigan (red head) was married to Alexis Denisof (Buffy and Angel geek). I love the flashbacks and closeness of the gang. The writers are amazing. All in all, I say: SEE IT

From Prada to Nada

Netflix writes, "Two Latina sisters accustomed to the high life are forced to adjust quickly after their father's death leaves them destitute and faced with the prospect of moving in with their aunt in East Los Angeles. Based loosely on Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility, this spirited comedy chronicles the indignities of modern downward mobility, along with the unexpected chances at redemption that fate can bring about.' All in all, I say: SEE IT if you like cheesy romance movies.

Tempted

Part of the House of Night series - Montalvan got me hooked on the teen series about vampires. Most of the book is spend with the gang trying to decide what to do next. They have fought against evil, but have not yet defeated it yet. All in all, I say: only READ if you have read the others otherwise SKIP

The Other Mr. Darcy

Written in a style similar to Austin. Mr. Darcy has a cousin, Robert, who has spend most of his life in the colonies. He left for England to attend to family business and got stuck when war broke out. So, unable to get back to Boston he spends time with the newly married Darcys. He is destined to meet Caroline Bingley and they fall in love. All in all, I say: READ IT.

Last Man in the World & What Would Jane Austin Do

Both books are from the Austin time period. Last Man in the World begins when Darcy first asked Elizabeth to marry him. In Austin's book Pride & Prejudice - Elizabeth says no and Darcy sets out to prove himself. Well, in this book she says yes the first time, they get married, and then he has to set out to prove himself. In What Would Jane Austin Do - a costume designer strikes a bargain with a couple of ghosts to go back in time and protect them from scandal. She does and while she's there she meets the love of her life. All in all, I say: SKIP THEM just reread Pride & Prejudice again.

Rammbock

A zombie love story. A man goes to Berlin to get back together with his girlfriend just when everyone is turning into zombies. He is trapped in his girlfriend's apartment with a young kid doing repair work. A couple other apartment tenants are also stuck there. You know how it goes - everyone gets it except the young kid and a young girl. The guy and his girlfriend end up zombies, but hey they are together. It was well done. All in all, I say: SEE IT if you like zombie movies - it's better than Romero's latest.

Breaking Dawn Part 1

Part 1: is just the wedding, the honeymoon, and the birth. The script is horrible and the soundtrack even worse. There is a scene with the wolves that made me laugh so hard I cried. It was really bad, but I did expect it to be. All in all, I say: SEE IT on tv when you are in a mood for a cheesy marathon.

Medium Raw & Entitled

Entitled: A poor, recent graduate can't find a job and decides to kidnap to kids of his dad's employer. Confusing I know and a stupid plot - oh yeah. The movie makes it appear as though the kid gets away with the crime and gets 2 million with no strings. But I clearly remember him smoking and leaving the butts behind. There is no way he gets away with it because he is going to have to pay the mortgage on his parent's house. All in all, I say: SKIP IT
Medium Raw: Sounded so much better than it was. Stupid characters and just all gore & no subsistence. A boy's sister is killed by a serial killer. He grows up to be a cop and catches the killer or so he thinks. His wife has been working with the real killer for a while. The acting is really bad. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

The Last Mountain

"This gripping documentary follows ordinary citizens in West Virginia's Coal River Valley as they wage a campaign to prevent the infamous Massey Energy Company from expanding ruinous mountaintop removal mining operations in their community." This will bring tears to your eyes and make you angry or you aren't human. All in all, I say: RENT IT

Pom Wonderful Presents the Greatest Ever Sold

I love me some Spurlock. Now that I can't see him on 30 days on FX, I have to wait for his movies to come out. I missed this one in the theatre, but it was just as good on Netflix. I really liked it - the interviews were well done. It was playful - haha - you'll get it when you see the movie. It really makes you think & I know you have noticed all the placements in your favorite tv shows these days. Reeses on the Closer for example - it is so obvious. Why is that? All in all, I say: SEE IT and get the answer to that question. Also, makes me want to visit San Paolo, Brazil. Did I spell that right? Product Placement

Sarah's Key

This is a Holocaust movie, so it will break your heart. 2 stories - one present and one past. Sarah is a young Jewish girl who is taken into custody by French police, who will hold her in a theatre with no water or toilets for days. Then take her and her family to a holding "prison" camp. Take her mother and father on a train to the ovens. A French policeman takes pity and lets her get away. This entire time - weeks - the girl as one goal in mind. It has to do with a key, but I can't tell you more. I get choked up thinking about it. The other story is a journalist who uncovers Sarah's story and how knowing affects how she lives her life. Quinn appears at the end and talk about endings - this one will make you cry. All in all, I say: YOU MUST SEE IT.

In Time

Timberlake does a good job. He makes for an excellent action hero. Seyfried does ok - I wasn't impressed. Kartheiser (Mad Men) plays the rich guy - rich as in he can live for millions of years - no money in this sci-fi futuristic movie. Time is currency. When you turn 25 you have one year to live - you will always stay 25, but problem is you have to get more time. You work - hard - day after day to get time to pay for things and prolong your life. The rich have more than enough, but are they living. They have to be super careful not to have any sort of accident, if they can do that they can live forever. 13 from House does a good job at beginning as Timberlake's mom. Bomer from White Collar also does a good job - the man with the time that gets Timberlake thinking about what it means to waste time. Murphy from 28 Days Later plays a Time Cop - he's really into his job which will get him in the end. All in all, I say: SEE IT - if you have time.

Martha Marcy May Marlene

Disturbing, confusing, pointless, and slow. She is in a cult and when she leaves she has trouble adjusting. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Winnie the Pooh

I was disappointed in the songs, the plot, and the voices. All in all, I say: SKIP IT
