Paintball

Same old same old - this plot has been sooooo overdone. Sometimes a B movie sometimes a big budget. Sometimes with nobodys sometimes with big names. I have even seen several versions even some in foreign languages. This one is no better, but no worse. A group of people are being hunted so that rich people can watch. This time it is a group of paintball players. The gross scenes are filmed though a night scope - only thing about it that is different. All in all, I say: SKIP IT like all the others.

The Dry Land

The plot is similiar to other post war movies. Man returns from Iraq and just isn't the same. He has lost a couple of friends, one is injured, and his mom dies when he returns home. What makes this one unique - the actors - Jason Ritter, Melissa Leo, and America Ferrera. The lead Ryan O'Nan was the husband on season one of Mercy. I like him - All in all, I say: RENT IT

The Romantics

Surprising performances from everyone. I was really into it until the sucky end. A group of 20-30 year olds come together for a wedding. The groom is divided between an easy relationship with one girl or a whirlwind relationship with another. The other couples don't take away from the triangle at all. There is some humor the toasts at the rehersal dinner are too funny. Spoiler - at the end the couple is about to say their vows - the other woman is barely keeping it together - the groom looks like he is trying to decide between them & it starts raining - the end!!! I know right - I demand to know who he picks. All in all, I say: SEE IT.

Paper Man

Two people at different times in their life, but difficult times to be sure meet. Their imaginary friends also meet. They help each other out and all is well that ends well. There is some interesting dialogue. Emma does a good job - as always. All in all, I say: RENT IT.

Life in Flight

Well, I thought it might be interesting. But I watched half of it in fast forward. I couldn't get into. Seemed to be a typical - I am not happy in my life and work oh look a much more carefree woman and I will quit my job - but wait I have a kid bull crap. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

The Illusionist

Having loved his last movie so much I was really looking forward to this one. Again, not much talking except a word here or there. Animation was so cool. A magician near the end of his career & life - finds himself in Scotland before WWI. He meets a young girl that believes him to be magical. Alas, in efforts to keep the magic alive he spends all his money. In the end, he has to sell all his props, has no job, no money, and the girl finds a young man. He leaves a note that says, "There are no magicians." Too sad - he doesn't even do a magic trick for a kid on the train on his way home. All in all, I say: RENT IT later or Stream it for free before the awards.

Blue Valentine

I got half way through this film about how a man & woman meet and get to a stale place in their relationship. I am so glad Missy saw this one without me - All in all, I say: SKIP IT. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood, but I don't get how the award people are so into this film and Social Network?!

Downton Abbey

A 7 part series on PBS. Very similar to the Robert Altman movie that shed light on what goes on behind the scenes of large households in England. I love all the characters. The plot is often very predictable. All in all, I say: STREAM IT.

Unknown

I love this action hero thing Liam has going for him now. Since he lost his wife he's done a ton of movies. The plot is predictable, but there are a couple of cool action scenes. All in all, I say: SEE IT.

I Am Number 4

Based on a young adult novel, aliens have sent some of their kids there to be safe when their world is destroyed. Now the things that killed them has followed them to earth. Number four meets a girl, a good friend, and his powers. The only good actor - spoiler alert - dies. All in all, I say: RENT IT.

The Traveler

Kilmer is Mr. Nobody who avenges his own death at the hands of 6 cops. It is weird and gross and I didn't watch the whole thing. It was Canadian too - all in all, I say: SKIP IT.

Takers

Boring - the same plot as every other bank heist/armed car robbery movie ever made. Nothing new or different about it - except one guy speaks with an English accent. It was surreal to see the Star Wars guys fight a group of Russians with a baseball bat - didn't they know he had saber training? All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Jeff Dunham

Is a comedian and a ven'triloquist and a good one. I love his Achmed the Dead Terrorist. "Shut up! I Kill you! All in all, I say: GO SEE HIM and take me with you.

The Eagle

It was not too boring, but not too interesting either. A Brit and a Roman go for a walk past the infamous northern wall to find the eagle. There is fighting and friendship. No sex thank goodness. There are some shirtless scenes which are ok. All in all, I say: RENT IT later when you are bored.

Red Hill

"We were going to have a boy." The last words of a mass murderer. A modern day western in Australia. A city cop moves his family to the small town of Red Hill. By the end of his 1st day on the job not only is he the only cop left in town, but he's the only man left in town. Awesome job by True Blood's playboy. All in all, I say: SEE IT.

Well, I never know how Sophia's movies will be. This one was sssssllllllooooooowwwwwwwwww. I fast forwarded through most of it and didn't feel like I missed a thing. All in all, I say: SKIP IT
