Tumbledown

Hall (Permission) is the widow of a famous singer songwriter. After two years she has decided to try to move on with her life by writing her late husband's biography. Sudeikis (Permission) is a professor and will get tenure and a book deal if he can write about the singer/songwriter. He needs the widows help to get it done. They have chemistry,. The writing is good. The acting is very good. All in all, I say: STREAM IT

Sisters

The former SNL comedians are at it again. This time they are sister each going through a life transition. They have an epic party at their parents house and it's comedy genius. Well, some of the scenes are. Some not so much. All in all, I say: RENT IT

Fixer Upper

On HGTV and filmed in Waco, Texas. A couple help people fix up their newly purchased homes to make them dream homes. They are so sweet and cute. I am addicted, and I don't normally like reality tv. All in all, I say: SEE IT

The Night Before

Rogen (Zeroville) and Gordon-Levitt (Snowden) together again. They are a group of friends that have a yearly Christmas tradition to help a friend who needed family over the holidays. They all think it's their last, but they all come to some realizations during all the crazy stuff that happens. I was curious - it had some funny parts, but as always they go to far and lose me. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

The Mysteries of Laura

Based on a popular show in Spain a single mom tries to balance kids, ex-husband, and being the best detective in her precinct. It's a little rough in season one, but you can tell they are putting their hearts into it. Lucas (Youth in Oregon), Messing (Dirty Dancing), and Bledsoe (The Man in the High Castle) all star. All in all, I say: SKIP IT - apparently it only lasts two seasons.

Fuller House

The kids have all grown up and they are going to live together in the house they grew up in because DJ needs help with her kids since her husband died. The 1st episode has cameos by the old cast. All in all, I say: SKIP IT - there is lots of yelling - everyone is loud.

Jackie & Ryan

Heigl (Jenny's Wedding) is trying to piece her life back together in her home town with her daughter during her divorce. A train jumper (Barnes from Westworld) who is also a musician helps her out and ends up spending more time than he planned in one spot. It is beautiful. All in all, I say: STREAM IT

Before We Go

Chris Evans (Captain America) directs, helped write, and acts in this independent film. He is a musician trying to get over a girl who left him years ago. He has an audition and a friends wedding in the city. When he's outside the train station he meets a girl who has had her bag stolen. Being a nice guy he helps her - it's rocky at first. She is in the city maybe having an affair - maybe not. It is so good until the very end - then it's a major bummer. All in all, I say: STREAM IT

London Has Fallen

Same actors from Olympus Has Fallen. This time the British Prime Minister dies and world leaders from all over go to London for the funeral. An evil doer has plans for all the world's leaders. There is one man (Butler from How to Train Your Dragon 3) between them and the President of the US (Eckhart from Sully). The action is awesome. The one loners are better. People actually screamed at some scenes. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Join or Die with Craig Ferguson

IMDb writes, "Join or Die with Craig Ferguson features the comedian debating provocative and timely topics in his unorthodox and iconoclastic manner. Each episode features a panel of guests which will include celebrities, comedians and experts, as well as the American public through social media. Topics will include: biggest presidential campaign flop, greatest founding father and which invention was history's greatest game-changer." It's not as funny as his last show, but it's not bad. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Spotlight

Ruffalo (Now You See Me 2), Keaton (Beetlejuice 2), McAdams (Doctor Strange), Schreiber (The 5th Wave), and Slattery (Ted 2) play the real life newspaper staff that researched and printed everything on the Catholic molestation scandal. It is intense. I cried. Everyone did a great job acting and not overshadowing the others. All in all, I say: RENT IT

Victor Frankenstein

Radcliffe (Now You See Me 2) and McAvoy (The Coldest City) are Igor and Doctor. They each have their own demons and now they each have the same obsessed policeman out to get them Scott (Sherlock). It was strange - not true to the book at all. All in all, I say: SKIP IT.

Room

A young girl is kidnapped and raped for years. She gives birth and her son is all that keeps her fairly sane. The movie starts with the boy turning 4 or 5. I warn you this is heartbreaking. The little boy does an amazing job. Larson (21 Jump Street) is amazing as well. It was worthy of any and all awards it was nominated for or won. All in all, I say: SEE IT

The Good Dinosaur

What if the comet that hit Earth and caused the extinction of the dinosaur missed? This looks at the world from that point. It's really the story of how a young one who wants so bad to prove his father proud finds his own way in life. It was cute. It's no amazing PIXAR, but not bad. All in all, I say: RENT IT
