Property Virgins
On the Canadian HGTV - came across it by accident. I hate reality tv, but this has me hooked. People who have never owned a home before get help finding a house on a budget that suits them & hopefully has everything on their wish list. I like seeing all the cities and the homes. All in all, I say: TRY IT at least once.

Bad Teacher
I didn't like it - maybe it's because I'm a teacher. Cameron wants to meet a man to take care of her and thinks bigger boobs are the way to reach that goal. It was way over the top and a bit to much slap-stick. A lot of the humor was uncomfortably sexual. I was disappointed. All in all, I say: SKIP IT.

Titanic II
One of those Canadian SyFi Channel movies. An ice shelf in Greenland breaks off and causes Tsunamis in the Atlantic which in turn causes the Titanic II to flip over and sink. Meanwhile the coast guard Captain and the scientist head to the boat to save his daughter who is on the boat - not surprising I know. Not a very happy ending. All in all, I say: SKIP IT.

Nightmare on Elm Street
A remake - parents kill a guy for hurting their kids and later he appears in the kids dreams to get revenge. Not as scary as the original but I'm older and have seen way more horror flicks. The guy that plays Freddie (Human Target) is not as scary as the original. All in all, I say: SEE IT if you like horror & especially if you haven't seen the original and like horror. It's a classic and was well done.

Grown Ups
First let me say that I wanted to see some of my favorite SNL guys again. There were some funny scenes - the did a goof job making fun of each other - it's how I imagine some of their writing sessions on SNL must have been. The wives did a good job too - all star cast. The little girl won an MTV award for best line - I want a chocolate hangover! All in all, I say: SEE IT when it comes on TBS some day.

Little Fockers
Little Fockers
Devil
The only movie by Night that I have not yet seen, so I couldn't let that happen. Sounds like it is based on some Catholic story about the Devil - yes the Devil is killing the people. Spoiler: Not everyone dies. I thought it was well done and went by fast. All in all, I say: SEE IT if you like horror - don't go in expecting the level that his others films were though.
Cars 2
Same group as before - this focuses on an evil crime lord trying to get even and make a lot of money. Mater works as a spy to help bring down the crime leader. Sophia (5) got really bored - the older 2 liked it. We saw it in 3D & boy what a waste of money. Don't pay extra just do 2D. All in all, I say: RENT IT when it comes out.

Bhutto
Biography about the rise and assassination of Bhutto - democratic leader of Pakistan. It sheds light on her personally and it sheds light on why Pakistan struggles so. I think the best thing that could happen would be for the next leader to irradicate the ISI - while they exist democracy will not be possible. Also, the education of women. All in all, I say: even though you know the ending - SEE IT.

The Other Woman
A woman has a affair with an unhappy married man. He already has a son - she becomes pregnant but the baby dies of SIDS. The movie begins there - so the woman blames herself and she kind of takes it out on her now husband and step-son. They all work out their garbage. It was sad. All in all, I say: SKIP IT.

Green Lantern
Based on DC Comic. It's the poor man's version of Spiderman/Batman. Boy won't grow up until given super hero gift - girl convinces him to be all he can be - he becomes man - saves the day - gets the girl. There were some really cheesy scenes - I don't think the girl can act. Not enough comedy. All in all, I say: SKIP IT. Hold out of Captain America.
Mr. Popper's Penguins
The kids were excited and they laughed a lot. Penguins are addictive. Based on a young adult novel about a man that needs to learn what it means to be there for his family. Carrey is getting better at not going to far over the top - I wasn't wearing my glasses so this may explain why I write this - he was handsome in this. All in all, I say: RENT IT when it comes out - really no need to pay so much to see it in theatre.

Charlie St. Cloud
I passed it up the 1st time around because I figured it would not only be religious, but it would be predictable. Efron did a good job - I was surprised. The religion wasn't too bad. The other supporting actors made this a good movie. A boy about to leave for college loses his little brother and doesn't want to move on. A girl helps him move on. All in all, I say: SEE IT if you like sailing - like I do - or if you like the whole things happen for a reason.
Trust
I was curious because it was directed by David Schwimmer (Friends). I like Clive Owen - he played a good dad in this. Keener was steller also. A young high school girl is lied to by an older man on the internet - yeah, so you know where this is going. It's not really the point of the story though in my opinion - it happens and it's a reminder to parents to be diligent. In my opinion it was more about what people do after it happens. All in all, I say: SKIP IT because it's what you think it is & I like movies that take me away from that harsh reality.
Pirate Radio
So, I finally got around to seeing this on HBOGo app on my phone. In the 60s in the UK rock&roll radio was banned so they broadcast from the waters. This is the story of one station and all of their DJs. An excellent cast - my favorite bit was the setting - the boat was so cool inside - that would be a cool place to live. All in all, I say: WATCH IT.
Midnight in Paris
It had the potential to be a clever plot - it reminded me of Allen's movie The Purple Rose of Cairo, only this one feel short. There was something lacking and I just can't figure it out. The cast was fine, so it wasn't that - in fact - Adrian Brody as Dali was the highlight of the movie. All in all, I say: SKIP IT even if you are a Woody Allen fan.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid
So, this was the movie for the $1 show today. The kids had already seen it. It is based on the kids books. I love Steve Zahn, and I thought he did a good job playing the dad. The movie is about a kid starting middle school and all kinds of gross stuff happens - no, I have not seen anything like they show in the movie. All in all, I say: READ IT & then RENT IT if you have kids.

Stake Land
Vampire zombies are everywhere & it is end of the world conditions. A man takes a boy under his wing to train him to survive and get him North into Canada - it's called New Eden and it's supposed to be safe. Along the way they pick up people and lose people. Will they make it to Canada? They call him Mister and he is known as a great hunter of vampire zombies. All in all, I say: SEE IT only if you like horror, end of world, zombie, vampire flicks.
Hall Pass
Drive Angry
Cage has escaped from hell in order to save his grand-daughter from being sacrificed by a cult leader. The Devil has sent his accountant (played by William Fichtner from Prison Break and Grace Under Fire - I just love this guy I can't explain it, but I think he's sexy). The accountant helps Cage get the baby to safety & then takes him back to hell. There was a lot of action - I bet it was cool in 3D with all the fire, bullets, and car chases. All in all, I say: SKIP IT unless you like really bad Cage movies - I admit I do.
Henry's Crime
Keanu Reeves plays a toll booth operator until an old high school bully talks him into filling in for a sick player on a baseball team. Well, it turns out they were really robbing a bank and Henry is caught in the car. Refusing to give up the names of the real criminals because he was looking for a way out of his life - Henry ends up in prison. There he meets James Caan and when they get out they decide to rob the bank for real. In order to get access they get invovled in a local play - there Keanue falls in love with Vera Farmiga. All in all, I say: RENT IT it was light & Fisher Stevens has a small role.
Jumping the Broom
Good Day For It
A man is reunited with his family after 15 years of being on the run from a gangster he stole from. He took the money for his daughters heart surgery & then without telling his family what was going on he split to protect them. Now, 15 years later they all find themselves in a cafe in a small town. A scared cop, a cafe owner, a chef, and the gangster's crew all end up having to make some important decisions. The screenplay was good - the cast was good - the direction not so good. Robert Patrick (Terminator 2), Lance Henriksen (Aliens), the long-haired actor from Leverage, the Captain from Stargate: Atlantis, Samantha Mathis (Pump Up the Volume), Hal Holbrook, and Kathy Baker. All in all, I say: RENT IT but be prepared for it to be a little long.
Glades
Super 8
Elle Fanning does an amazing job in this. It is the kids and the zombie film they are working on that really makes this movie. The plot is not new. A branch of the military is keeping a secret & that secret gets let lose on a small town in Ohio - always the mid-west. It made me jump, it made me laugh, and there was some sad stuff, too. All in all, I say: SEE IT.

Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer
Based on the kids books - Judy decides that in order for the summer to not be boring she and her friends need to make a game of it. Each of them must earn thrill points. Judy tried to earn points by surfing, seeing a scary movie, and riding a rollercoaster. Things don't go as planned. All in all, I say: RENT IT if you have kids.
Daydream Nation
A teen moves to a new town - a small town - where almost all the kids do drugs to pass the time. She gets bored and after an interesting English class decides to seduce her teachers. It works but he turns out to be a loser. She falls for a really wierd kid too - they have some dreams in common. In the meantime there is a serial killer on the lose. All in all, I say: even though it was strange - RENT IT

X-Men: First Class
The prequel to all the others - a cameo by Wolverine - there are several characters I was not aware of - they weren't in the other films - so maybe another film is coming?!! It was really good - the cast worked! James McAvoy - hot (Wanted) - is Profesor X. Michael Fassbender - hot (Inglorious Bastards)- is Magneto. Jennifer Lawrence (Winter's Bone) does a good job - Kevin Bacon - good again. In every scene there is an actor that you will recognize - they had one of my favorite Russian actors, too. The best X-men yet. All in all, I say: SEE IT NOW!
