The first - oh man did I love this movie. I think I saw it in the theatre several times. I own the movie poster. Willis (Moonlighting) was a flawed bad guy and even when he was wounded he kept on. Bedelia (Presumed Innocent) was the wife who was being held hostage. Willis was the cop, McClane. Rickman (Love Actually) was the bad guy. He was an amazing bad guy! VelJohnson (Family Matters) was the cop that stayed in contact with McClane. Godunov (Witness) was also a bad guy. Finally, a Christmas movie that isn't cheesy or overly Christmasy. I love action movies! All in all, I say: SEE IT
Christmas again - this time McClane is at the airport when his wife's plane is taken over. Harlin (Finnish director of Cliffhanger) directs this one so the action is pretty cool and well thought out. The stunts in this are really amazing for the time. Same cast aside from the bad guys. Sadler (Terminator 2) is a colonel that has gone rogue. "Just the fax ma'am." A great line from the movie. Another great Christmas for me, too. All in all, I say: SEE IT
McTiernan (Predator) directs again. This is a more simpler Die Hard movie like the first. The bad guy form the first film has a brother with a revenge plan - Irons (The Lion King). Jackson (Long Kiss Goodnight) is a bystander that gets pulled into the craziness. IMDb writes, "John McClane and a Harlem store owner are targeted by German terrorist Simon Gruber in New York City, where he plans to rob the Federal Reserve Building." I found the ending annoying. All in all, I say: SEE IT if you are going to see all of them, but SKIP IT if you only want to see really good ones.
My all time favorite - I still hold a special place in my heart for the first one, but there are flaws because of the times. This one is just amazing every time I see it. Long (Accepted) adds so much humor and I just fell in love with him in this. Olyphant (Deadwood) is - well - let's face it - hot as hell!!! I love, love, love him. He gives great bad guy. Maggie Q (Nikita) kicks some serious ass in this. The parcour in this is done by one of the original creators of the sport. Kevin Smith (Comic Book Men) has a cameo, and we meet McClane's daughter all grown up. All in all, I say: SEE IT and then buy it and then SEE IT again, and again, and again......Oh, and it's directed by Wiseman (Underworld).
