Black Sails

Pirates - swoon.

Based partially on true pirates and true events - and partially on events that took place in Stevenson's novel Treasure Island. It centers around Captain Flint played by Stephens (Vexed) seen below. We have seen him with his shirt off - nice - but it's his facial hair that I think makes him devilish handsome.
McGowan (Shameless) plays Captain Vane. Him we have seen everything - everything - let that sink in. His voice is what drives me crazy. He's below in the middle.
Hopper (Merlin) still has a sword, but instead of being a knight he's a pirate. He goes shirtless for us once before tragedy strikes. Seen below.

I forgot the plot - ummmm - they are pirates and they want gold and they don't want to be ruled by anyone. All in all, I say: do I really need to say it - look above.....SEE IT

L'immmortal (AKA 22 Bullets)

A French film starring Reno (The Professional) has a retired mob boss that gets back into action to seek revenge on his old partners when they attempt to kill him. All in all, I say: SKIP IT - the plot of just boring and so was the action.

Veronica Mars (movie)

It takes place several years after the last episode of the tv series. Veronica has been to law school and is living in NY with Piz. She gets a class that Logan, now in the navy, is accused of killing his movie star girlfriend. While she is in town helping him the reunion is also taking place, so lots of the old cast are in town. Eli gets into trouble with Mrs. Kane. The new sheriff is on the take and may be a murderer. A whole lot is going on - Veronica has decide what life she wants. All in all, I say: SEE IT - if you watched the series otherwise, SKIP IT.

The 100

I'm sure you can guess how many teenagers have been dropped to Earth after about a 100 years after a nuclear meltdown that destroyed it - that's right 100. It seems after one episode that the 100 teenagers are going to go through a little "Lord of Flies" action. What I am most interested in - the drama taking place with the adults left on the spaceship that only has about 3 months of air & supplies. Turco (NCIS: New Orleans) is a doctor whose husband was accused of a crime and spit into outer space and whose daughter is on Earth. Washington (True Crime) is the leader on the spaceship; his son is also on the planet. All in all, I say: TRY IT

Crisis

This is a new series and I have only seen one episode, but I'm going to see a few more after seeing the pilot. A group of kids, whose parents are very important people, will be used to make their parents do things. Why the bad guy - Mulroney (Nikita) is the bad guy even though his daughter is one of the captives & why he is wearing a horrible wig - I don't know. Anderson (X-Files) is one of those parents. All in all, I say: TRY IT

Man of Tai Chi

So, Tai Chi is usually seen as a martial art used for mediation and exercise, not for violence. That is until one corrupt man vows to do whatever it takes to turn on such follower of Tai Chi into a killer. Will he succeed?
Reeves (The Matrix) directs and acts in this. He plays the bad guy and he isn't bad at it. All in all, I say: SEE IT if you like martial arts films. If you don't, SKIP IT. I streamed it on Netflix.

Believe

IMDb writes, "Believe is about an unlikely relationship between a gifted young girl and a man sprung from prison who has been tasked with protecting her from the evil elements that hunt her power." McLaughlin (Warrior) plays her dad. All in all, I say: SEE IT and tell me if you don't also think it's a lot like Touch.

Those Who Kill

A&E writes, ""Those Who Kill" follows Catherine Jensen (ChloĆ« Sevigny), a recently promoted homicide detective who enlists the help of Thomas Schaeffer (James D'Arcy), a forensic psychologist, to track down serial killers and relentlessly seeks the truth behind the disappearance of her brother." Sevigny (Big Love) does an excellent job as the detective. D'Arcy (After the Dark) plays the psychologist. Morrison (The One) is her boss. Abtachi (Brothers) is her partner. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Red Road

Sundance writes, "Revolves around a sheriff struggling to keep his family together while simultaneously policing two clashing communities: the small town where he grew up and the neighboring Ramapo Mountains, home of the Ramapo Mountain Indians. After a terrible tragedy and coverup occurs involving the sheriff's wife, an unholy alliance is forged between the sheriff and a dangerous member of the tribe that will come back to haunt all involved." Here's all you really need to know - Momoa (Stargate: Atlantis) - Momoa kicking butt - Momoa with his shirt off (I hope) - Momoa flirting - Momoa driving - Momoa talking. You get the picture. I watch this for Momoa. All in all, I say: WATCH Momoa!

Mind Games

Slater (Breaking In) and Zahn (Treme) are brothers who start a company that helps people convince others to do things to help them. For example, they convince a man at a health insurance company to approve a surgery for a young boy. It has some funny parts - Zahn has a mental disorder, so sometimes he goes manic which is not fun. All in all, I say: DONT KNOW - I still haven't made up my mind.

When Calls the Heart

Based on a movie that was made for Hallmark this series follows a city girl as she moves out to a coal town in Canada's frontier to teach. She falls in love with a mountie. It is sweet and fun. All in all, I say: SEE IT

The Sessions

Hawkes (Low Down) plays in this biography about a disabled man who connects with three different women on his quest to have sex before he dies. Hunt (Twister) is a sex therapist. Macy (Fargo) plays a priest. All in all, I say: STREAM IT - it was a good performance by Hawkes.

Assassination Games

Van Damme (Universal Soldier) and Adkins (Zero Dark Thirty) work together to bring down a corrupt group of cops and a gangster. They are both hitmen who work for different reasons. All in all,  I say: STREAM IT on netflix it wasn't horrible.

Cockneys vs Zombies

It's Zombies and they have the nerve to rise up in the East End of London. It's good - not Shaun of the Dead good, but good. All in all, I say: SEE IT - if you like zombies.

Violet & Daisy

2 youngs girls (Ronan from The Host and Bledel from Gilmore Girls) who work for a gangster killing people come across a man (Gandolfini from True Romance) that will be hard for them to kill. They get to know him and things for all of them will forever change. All in all, I say: SEE IT - it is really interesting and different.

Best Man Down

Long (Drag Me to Hell) gets married to Weixler (Teeth) and before they can get to their honeymoon the best man (Labine from Monsters University) dies of a heart problem. They travel back home to plan and attend the funeral and find a surprise. The best man has formed a friendship with a teenager in a very bad situation. She proves to be what the couple need to deal with the loss of their friend. All in all, I say: SKIP IT - it wasn't horrible, but it wasn't memorable either.

Adore

2 best friends end up having affairs with each other's sons (Watts from King Kong and Wright from House of Cards). Later the sons are pushed by their mother to seek other relationships which they do. They both get married and each have girls who become best friends. It's just weird and boring. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Homefront

This is written by Stallone (Expendables). Statham (Transporter) is an undercover Interpol cop who has to relocate after a bust goes bad. He moves with his daughter to Louisiana where a schoolyard squabble causes his identity to come to light. Franco (127 Hours) plays a local drug dealer. Ryder (Black Swan) plays the drug dealers girlfriend. Bosworth (21) plays the drug dealers sister. All in all, I say: SEE IT if you like to see Statham fight - he doesn't ever do it with his shirt off (bummer).

Out of the Furnance

Two brothers take different paths: Bale (American Psycho) is a welder whom after drinking too much one night gets into an accident where people are killed. Affleck (Gone Baby Gone) joins the military and serves in the war only to return a mess. Affleck gets involved in bare knuckle fighting and during one out of state fight things get out of control. Saldana (Avatar) plays Bale's girlfriend, Shepard (The Right Stuff) plays Bale's uncle, Harrelson (Zombieland) plays a crook, Whitaker (The Butler) plays a cop, and Defoe (Finding Nemo) plays a bar owner. All in all, I say: SKIP IT - it was uneventful.

Snitch

Johnson (Rundown) plays the snitch. Sarandon (Dead Man Walking) is the attorney. Pepper (True Grit) plays a DEA agent that helps Johnson. Bratt (Demolition Man) plays a drug lord. IMDb writes, "A father goes undercover for the DEA in order to free his son who was imprisoned after being set up in drug dea" All in all, I say: SKIP IT - it's not really that intriguing.

Unleashed

Luc Besson (The Fifth Element) writes this film starring Li () which is directed by Leterrier (No You See Me). IMDb writes, "A man enslaved by the mob since childhood and raised into behaving like a human attack dog escapes his captors and attempts to start a new life." Hoskins (The Sleeping Dictionary) and Freeman (Glory) also star. All in all, I say: SEE IT - see this instead of Oldboy.

Oldboy

IMDb writes, "Obsessed with vengeance, a man sets out to find out why he was kidnapped and locked into solitary confinement for 20 years without reason." Spike Lee (Inside Man) directs this remake. Brolin (W) plays the man who is kidnapped, imprisoned for 20 years, and is accused of his wife's murder. A man has paid to have this done to Brolin because of something that happened in high school. Olsen (Liberal Arts) plays a woman that helps Brolin when he is let go - the ending is disturbing and makes me have to say: All in All I say: SKIP IT

Jerusalem (IMAX)

I saw this at the IMAX theatre at Fernbank Natural History Museum. It is narrated by Cumberbatch (Sherlock). The film takes you all over the old district, provides history, and shows you Jerusalem through the eyes of three women. The second half shows you how all the religions in Jerusalem celebrate Easter. It was informative, bright, and vibrant. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Non-Stop

It wasn't an unusual plot by any stretch of the imagination. The only thing it had going for it - the cast. I guessed only one bad guy. I was wrong in a couple of places. Neeson's (Taken) character is deeply flawed, but he is awesome! Moore (Hannibal), McNairy (Argo), Stoll (Midnight in Paris), and Mount (Hell on Wheels) play passengers or are they? Dockery (Downton Abbey) is a flight attendant, and Harner (Next) was a pilot. It keep me interested and I would recommend seeing it on the big screen. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Enough Said

Two divorced people who are about to lose their only children to college find a friendship together that leads toward more. Doesn't sound very exciting, but the writing for this was amazing. The two actors Louis-Dreyfus (Seinfeld) and Gandolfini (The Sopranos) have chemistry. They do an amazing job. Keener (The Croods) not some much in my opinion, but it could have been the character she was playing. All in all, I say: RENT IT - I got it on Netflix.
