1st let me say, I love disaster movies. A high budget Hollywood disaster film...I love even more. Mayans predicted the end of times in 2012. This film takes climate change and myth, and then puts family trying to survive at the center. Emmerich (The Day After Tomorrow) is a master at this kind of film. Cusack (Identity and Martian Child) and Peet (Identity and Martian Child) are ex-husband and wife with two kids. Ejiofor (Half of a Yellow Sun) and Newton (Half of a Yellow Sun) are on the other end - they are guaranteed to survive because of their ties to the White House. Glover (Lethal Weapon) as President was an ok choice. Platt (Martian Child) plays a kind of bad guy - an everyone for themselves kind of guy. Harrelson (Zombieland) is the perfect choice for the crazy conspiracy theorist. All in all, I say: SEE IT - it's tons of fun.
