Left-handedness

The word left in other languages means: weak
(English), ugly (French), awkward (German), not clever (Spanish), dishonest (Italian),
sinister (Latin, insult (Russian), and illegal (Polish).

Cultural quarks: In Morocco, a left handed
person is cursed. The Inuit, believe a left handed person has the potential to
be a sorcerer. In ancient Egypt, they believed
death entered the left ear.

Religious quarks: It was believed that if the left side of the
body had a blemish that is was the mark of the devil. People often throw salt
over their left shoulder in the face of the devil. In Hebrew, it is believed that
the devil stands on the left side of God. In Buddhism, the left side is the
wrong way to live life. In Islamic countries, the left hand is unclean.
