The Good Lie

I have my students read the book The Year of No Rain by Mead about the Lost Boys of the Sudan. Hundreds of young kids walked thousands of miles to the border of Kenya and Ethiopia looking for food, water, and protection during the genocide in southern Sudan. This movie shows you the lives of three boys and a girl. They end up being placed in the US - there is a steep learning curve to adapt to our culture. Witherspoon (Wild) works of a job placement agency and she helps them get jobs while getting involved in their lives, too. It is sad - you will cry. All in all, I say: SEE IT - I also downloaded the title song. I watched this on OnDemand with DirecTv.
