The Long, Hot Summer

Based on a story by Williams Faulkner, Newman (Cars), Woodward (Empire Falls), and Welles (Citizen Kane) all star. A drifter comes to a small Southern town and catches the eye of the local rich big shot. The big shot wants the drifter to woo and marry his spinster teacher daughter. He also hopes that by giving him a piece of his property his only son will grow a pair. Things get messy before they get better. Newman is super sexy in this. All in all, I say: SEE IT

A remake was done for tv in 1965.

Then again in 1985.
Johnson (Miami Vice), Robarbs (The Day After), and Ivey (The Family) all star. Plot is the same as the original. All in all, I say: SEE IT - it wasn't bad for a tv movie.
