Get the Gringo
Mel Gibson - I know - but this part was made for him. A lower budget film that takes place in Mexico. He's an ex-sniper for the military that works as a criminal. He steals from an American and gets caught in Mexico by 2 corrupt cops - lands himself in a jail run by a criminal and finds himself wanted to protect a woman & her son that are there. It's kind of several plots rolled into one. All in all, I say: SKIP IT. There was nothing special about it.
ParaNorman
It's not what you think. Am 11 year old girl in olden days who is able to see ghosts is feared by a town, so they kill her. Modern day 11 years old boy - from the same family line - also see ghosts and is feared by a town. It's his turn to quiet the ghost of the girl whom everyone now refers to as a evil witch in order to prevent the dead from coming back. It is disturbing when you know the whole story - I think the kids were kind of confused. All in all, I say: SKIP IT
The Odd Life of Timothy Green
Jennifer Garner (Alias) and Joel Edgerton (Warrior) are not able to have kids. As a therapy they write down traits they would want their child to have and bury them in the garden. Up comes everything they have written down - the point to show them what parenting is about. All in all, I say: RENT IT - about 30 minutes into film you know what will happen in the end, but the acting is good.

The Protectors
Above is one of the stars of the Danish show, The Protectors. He's actually Swedish and there must not be many actors working in Denmark because he also appears the other show I mentioned The Eagle. This show is about PET - the Danish Intelligent Services - like our CIA, FBI, ATF, and Secret Service all wrapped up in one. He is the head of the Danish version of our Secret Service. His group provides bodyguards for members of government when there has been an identified threat - as well as protection for the Queen and Prime Minister. All in all, I say: STREAM IT
The Eagle (tv show)
Above is one of the stars of the Denmark tv series called The Eagle. Members of a variety of Danish law enforcement agencies work together to solve crimes and catch criminals that operate multi-nationally. The group is kind of like the US version of Homeland Security. The name of the show comes from the nickname given to the main character. In addition to the crimes the show also has some drama. All in all, I say: STREAM IT
Front Page News
New Orleans food in the heart of Little Five Points Atlanta. Sunday brunch is the best. The outdoor area has a fountain and lots of flare. Jambalaya there is really quite good. All in all, I say: TRY IT

The Hunter
IMDb writes, "Martin, a mercenary, is sent from Europe by a mysterious biotech company to the Tasmanian wilderness on a hunt for the last Tasmanian tiger." Martin is played by Willem Dafoe (Platoon). He stays in the middle of nowhere with the family of a college professor doing research - the family has not seen their husband/father in weeks - turns out he was killed. There is a whole love triangle thing going on and a protest between environmentalist trying to protect the wilderness and lumberjacks who want to work. It's got like 3 or 4 plots going on at once. All in all, I say: SKIP IT it is sometimes confusing, frustrating, and it doesn't have a happy ending.
Total Recall
Colin Ferrall (Phone Booth) plays a machine worker who is actually a double agent but doesn't realize it until he tries to have a procedure done. Douglas Quaid is the name he is given when his memory is wiped and he is given an identity as a worker and a wife played by Kate Beckinsale (Underworld). She is a spy and her job is to keep him in line. Hauser is his name as a double agent. He infiltrates a Resistance movement headed by Bill Nighy (Underworld) and falls in love with a character played by Jessica Biel (New Year's Eve) who convinces him to turn on his leader played by Bryan Cranston (Malcome in the Middle). Right now you are thinking this is nothing like the original - and you would be right. It is only kind of like the original - there are some scenes in common. There is good action, but it is surrounded by really long supposed to be emotional scenes - did I mention long....... All in all, I say: RENT IT when it comes out but see the original first - keeping in mind it was state of the art when it was made.
The Bourne Legacy
While Jason is busy shooting up New York, operatives are being killed. One happens to get lucky, Aaron Cross. Cross (Jeremy Renner from Hurt Locker) is part of a program like Jason, but drugs are being used to help increase mental and physical performance. He was not the smartest guy ever and wants to keep his abilities. Cross needs his meds or the effects will be reverse. He seeks out the one doctor that manages to escape being wiped out by the program leaders (Edward Norton from The Hulk and Stacy Keach from Prison Break). He and the doctor (Rachel Weisz from The Mummy) are on the run together. There was so much more going on that I could not follow - some aspects of the plot are way too complicated for me. The actions scenes are well worth paying to see the movie in theatres - camera work is shaky like the other Bourne films. All in all, I say: SEE IT

Parks & Recreation
From the people that brought you The Office. A film crew that we never see follows the government employees of a small town in Indiana called Pawnee (think that is how it is spelled). These employees work for the parks and recreation department. The head of the department is a Libertarian that does not believe in government and in fact does as little as he possibly can. The deputy played by Amy Poehler (Saturday Night Live) does all the work and is amazing. He assistant is played by Aziz Ansari (the American express kayak commercial), her friend is played by Rashida Jones (The Office), her bosses boss is played by Rob Lowe (West Wing), and her boyfriend is played by Adam Scott (Friends With Kids). It has cute moments and moments that make you laugh till you cry. I was never able to see the series because it conflicted with something else, but it streams on Netflix now except for Season 4. All in all, I say: STREAM IT
What's Your Number
Anna Faris (The House Bunny) and Chris Evans (The Avengers) star in a unique romantic comedy. She finds out from a magazine article that the average American woman will have slept with 10 or fewer men in their lifetime. She has slept with 19. In order to make sure her twentieth is her husband/last lover she revisits all her old boyfriends. She gets help from the son of a detective who lives next door in exchange for letting him hide out from his conquests in her apartment. You get the idea - they are going to fall in love. Well, a drunken one night stand means she hits 20 and is reluctant to hook up with Chris' character. In the end love wins out & it turns out he becomes her 20th. I don't normally like this kind of comedy, but they have chemistry and she is soooo funny. There is a scene where she pretends to have an accent that almost made me pee in my pants. All in all, I say: SEE IT - it's on HBO right now.
Hit & Miss
It's a - Miss - because it is just way out there. Chloe Sevigny (Big Love) plays a hitman that wants to become a woman. He/she gets halfway through the process - and they show the nudity on tv?! - when he/she becomes guardian to a group of kids. The episodes are long and drawn out sometimes for no reason. It is difficult to follow the plot at times or understand what some of the actors are saying. It was very disconcerting. All in all, I say: SKIP IT
Superheroes
HBO documentary about real life superheroes. Who they are. Why they do what they do. What I didn't see? Very little of what they do except wander around. Some of them are very strange. Most them use it as an outlet. All in all, I say: SKIP IT
