So, I really hoped this would be a unique and fun (if possible) look at an updated Dracula. Umm, not so much. It takes place not too long after "The Ripper" hit the streets of White Chapel. I don't know why, but I just would have preferred a modern look at Dracula. IMDb writes, "Series introduces Dracula as he arrives in London, posing as an American entrepreneur who maintains that he wants to bring modern science to Victorian society. In reality, he hopes to wreak revenge on the people who ruined his life centuries earlier. There's only one circumstance that can potentially thwart his plan: Dracula falls hopelessly in love with a woman who seems to be a reincarnation of his dead wife." The woman Dracula (Meyers from August Rush) is sleeping with in the first show is not attractive and neither is the woman playing Mina, in my opinion. There are only 2 actors I like in this: Kretschmann (U-571) who plays Van Helsing and McGrath (Merlin) who plays Lucy. Why he has to pretend to be American I guess makes sense, but not really. It all just seems like it going to be man vs. secret organization - boring. Highlight: there was a cool special effect during a fight scene - ohhhhh - yeah, I know only one - lame. All in all, I say: SEE IT if you like Dracula myth and I'll let you know later if I keep to it.
