Frankenstein

As wikipedia writes so well, "Shelley had travelled in the region of Geneva, where much of the story takes place, and the topics of galvanism and other similar occult ideas were themes of conversation among her companions, particularly her future husband, Percy Shelley. The storyline emerged from a dream. Mary, Percy, Lord Bryon, and John Polidori decided to have a competition to see who could write the best horror story. After thinking for weeks about what her possible storyline could be, Shelley dreamt about a scientist who created life and was horrified by what he had made. She then wrote Frankenstein.." I think Shelley won. There was a movie made about this meeting and contest which was also interesting. There have been a ton of films, tv shows, and plays based on her book, but the all time best is the film from 1931. Karloff (How the Grinch Stole Christmas) plays the monster. You will find that people who haven't seen the movie or read the book mistake the monster for Frankenstein - Frankenstein is the scientist, not the monster. The book is more terrifying than the movie, but the movie is a classic in my eyes. All in all, I say: SEE IT.
