47 Ronin

Reeves (The Day the Earth Stood Still) is a half breed that was raised by demons, and after he ran away as a young boy was taken care of my a local Lord and his daughter. Sanada (Helix) is a samurai that protects his lord who controls the region by degree of the Shogun of Japan. Kikuchi (Pacific Rim) is the witch that helps another local lord plan and execute the murder of the leader of the region. When the leader is killed the Samurai become Ronin, but they seek justice for the murder of their leader; as the Bushido code states. Ronin wear 2 swords, so there is tons of sword play in this film. Sanada and Reeves are quite good. The movie is based on the real life events of The Revenge of the Forty-Seven Ronin that took place in Japan in the 1700s. The tale has been exaggerated over the years, but it serves as a lesson on loyalty, honor, and sacrifice. Since after avenging the death of their master they must commit ritual suicide. I don't know why people disliked it so in the US; I loved this film. I would have preferred it to have been in Japanese, but it didn't take away from love of it. All in all, I say: SEE IT - not in 3D it isn't necessary.
