Pete's Dragon

This Disney movie was released in 1977 I saw it for the first time when the Disney Channel had a free preview weekend - back when you had to pay. An orphan boy befriends this cartoon dragon and tries to get away from an abusive foster home. It's Disney in every way. All in all, I say: SEE IT
Disney has been on a kick lately to remake all their animated films into live action. So the dragon is more "real" than the cartoon version above. The people are less abusive. Bryce Dallas Howard (The Village) is a forest ranger who finds a boy that has been living in the woods with a dragon for years since his parents died in a car crash near the forest. Robert Redford (The Discovery) stars as her father - a small part - I guess he is executive producing more and more these days. Wes Bentely (Life) and Karl Urban (RED) also star. All in all, I say: SKIP IT
