John C Reilly (Chicago) plays a more serious role than usual in this western set during the gold rush. It's labeled as a comedy, but I didn't laugh much at all. He and his brother (Joaquin Phoenix of Gladiator) are personal mercenaries for a wealthy man. Phoenix is the brother with the trauma and the thirst for action, while John is the one who wants to settle down. Jake Gyllenhaal (Prisoners) is a scout for the same man. He loses his focus though when he meets a man who can use chemicals to find gold. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it. It's not exactly a typical western. It is more of a drama. All in all, I say: SEE IT on Hulu.
