Based on the first of three in a best selling series that focuses on the dominate/submissive relationship. I have previously blogged on the books. After having read the book first and then seeing the movie. I saw skip the books and just see the movie. It takes out all the horrible, boring crap and creates a more cohesive story line. Dornan (Once Upon A Time) fresh from season two of The Fall does a pretty good job at masking his accent as he plays the main character. He isn't as bad as people make him out to be in this part. It's all in the eyes.
Johnson, who is the daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, does a good job at playing the young and innocent college student, Anastasia, who gets wrapped up in Grey's complicated life. Ehle (Pride and Prejudice - the one with Colin Firth) is Anastasia's mother. Rasuk (Stalker) is a friend of Anastasia's. Harden (The Mist) is Grey's mother. Neal (Blood Ties & Arrow) is Anastasia's step-father. But my favorite....
Martini (Pacific Rim) plays the chauffeur. Love, love, love him.
All in all, I say: SEE IT if interested a romance with some light S&M. SKIP IT if you could care less. If you haven't already read the book and are waiting to see the movie - don't - just go see the movie and skip the book.
