Christopher Robin
Christopher (Ewan McGregor from Emma) plays the boy all grown up. The move away from the country, living in a boarding school, losing his father, fighting in the war, and working constantly has made him and his family unhappy. Pooh, his friend from his youth wakes to find his friends in 100 acre wood gone. He seeks out Christopher to gain his help. Along the journey Christopher remembers his youth, learns how to be a better husband, father, and boss. I warn you - there are parts that will hurt your heart. You will cry.... especially if you grew up on these stories. I also got to see the exhibit at the High Museum of Art. Piglet is my favorite FYI. The writing for this is so well done. The filming is fantastic - it really captures the time period. All in all, I say: SEE IT
Kiss Me First
This is based on a book I believe. It is set in the UK. It's about virtual reality, video games, and a group of lonely kids. A serial killer using VR and gaming to get a bunch of vulnerable kids to do some horrible things. One girl is strong enough...maybe....to to try to stop him. It leaves you with tons of unanswered questions. The editing feels off - I feel like I missed some stuff in order to better understand what was going on. All in all, I say: SKIP IT
Howard's End
In 1992, Emma Thompson and Anthony Hopkins were together again after Remains of the Day. This movie is based on the book by EM Forester. It's three orphaned siblings who have some money and love being apart of the young, hip crowd. When the oldest meets a widower things start to change with both their families. Some old secrets and some new desires. It a soap opera. I found it confusing when I first say it and decided not to read the book. All in all, I say: SKIP IT
STARZ re-made Howard's End in a series, so it is so much more detailed and the characters are more flushed out. The events make more sense as does the ending. At least compared to the movie from the 90s. I still don't really like the plot, but this one was easier to follow than the other. All in all, I say: SKIP IT

Rocco Schiavone (tv show)
This is a sub-titled Italian crime show. Rocco is an amazing detective. When his wife is killed by an assassin aiming for him he leaves the big city of Rome for a small northern town by the mountains. He continues to talk and see his wife when he is at home. He has affairs with hideous women. He compares people to animals like he is a zoologists. His detectives are a lot like the crew on The Closer - there are some that are really good detectives and there are some stupid/funny ones. Some of the scenes are so funny I was crying with laughter. He is an amazing character. This is show does homicide cop show to perfection. I love most of the characters. All in all, I say: SEE IT
Monster (tv show)
A Norweign crime series that lasted one season. A small town girl whose mother goes missing around the time 2 girls are murdered grows up to be a big city cop. When her marriage falls apart and her father's health starts to fail she returns to her small hometown up north. Then a local girl goes missing... everything that happened to the small town in the past is catching up to everyone. Additional police from the big city are called in to help and well...all hell breaks lose. Everyone has secrets, people get killed, religious fanatics make things worse, and it obvious there is one or more serial killer among the people of that very small town. All in all, I say: SEE IT - it's subtitled but the characters are all horrible and therefore awesome to watch.
SS-GB
A series that takes place in a world where the Germans won WWII. He is a homicide detective detective that solves crimes in Berlin under the SS bureau. Some see him as a sell-out and some see him a just a cop. It seems everyone is out to get him. It's hard to figure out who to trust in this. Sam Riley (Pride, Prejudcie, adn Zombies) does a decent job at a widower with a son trying not to get killed by the Germans or the rebels. All in all, I say: SEE IT if you like espionage and/or hisorcial mysteries. I'm hoping there is a season 2 so when know what happens to him.
Rampage
I put off seeing this until I could watch it for free at home. An experiment at the ISS goes wrong turning a rat into a huge monster. Some of the chemical hits a wolf, a gorilla, and an alligator when the space station falls from the sky to Earth. The 3 creatures are then manipulated to go into Chicago to the headquarters for the company that is illegally working with the drugs. The Rock does a good job at being a tough guy, but in this he does an excellent job at acting to a green screen. There are a ton of effects in this and it reminds me of the old Godzilla movies. It's just a fun, kick ass movie. All in all, I say: SEE IT
The Equalizer 2
I loved the series and loved the first film. All but the last 30 minutes or so were just as exciting as the first film. The ass kicking was epic. The show down with the bad guys was a little strange. The ending feels like THE END of the movies and not just the character. I wish they would bring this back to tv. All in all, I say: SEE IT if you saw the first film.
Safe House (tv show)
A UK show that ran for 2 seasons. Season 1 starred Christopher Eccleston has an ex-cop who is getting over being shot and losing a woman he had in protective custody. He and his wife have moved far out to the countryside. They are asked by a friend to make their home a safe house. One family comes to stay and the couple help the police and the family figure out what's going on. It wasn't bad. It had potential - if it was like a new person or family every week. Season 2 takes a more serial killer stance and stars an entirely new couple, so I stopped after one episode. All in all, I say: SEE SEASON 1
Isle of Dogs
Wes Anderson's next animated adventure since Fantastic Mr. Fox - which I loved. Let me be clear though I do NOT like his "regular" movies. I really don't want you to look up who does the voices and I don't want to tell you. I want you to watch it and try to pick out the famouse voices. Some will be obvious if you have seen all of Anderson's other movies. An evil leader of a Japanese province has decided - not only because he hates dogs - to send all dogs to a trash island for them to die because they have a disease. A young kid goes searching for his pet and uncovers the truth. All in all, I say: SEE IT
In & Out
So I rewatched this film again recently, and was kind of shocked. When I say it in 1997 it was good, funny, and had a heartfelt ending. Seeing now in 2018...it's kind of insulting to homosexuals. It just goes to show you can't always re-watch some oldies and goodies. An actor gives an award acceptance speech where he outs his high school teacher who lives in a very small with his soon to be wife. All in all, I say: SKIP IT
Alone in Berlin
Emma Thompson (Sense & Sensibility) and Bredan Gleeson (Calvery) are German parents who lose their only son during WWII. It's based, I think, on the true story of a couple who starts writing truths on cards and leaving them all over the city. They are trying to shine a light on the lies of Hitler during the war. Daniel Bruhl (Inglorious Basterds) is a local cop who is ordered by the SS to find the writer of the notes. The truth in them is too dangerous to their plans for Germany. He does want to find the writer, because he wants to prove to himself he is a good cop. He doesn't want to find the writer because he knows what awaits the couple. The ending is brutal, but the acting is excellent. All in all, I say: SEE IT
Leave No Trace
Ben Foster (3:10 to Yuma) needs to win some damn academy awards - this guy can seriously act and is so under appreciated I think. It's all in his face in this movie. He is a war vet who just can't anymore. Can't live in the world, can't take the drugs, and can't be around anyone but his daughter. They are doing great hiding in a National Park until she is discovered. A social worker sets them up with school, work, home, but after a little time it's just too much for the sole survivor. His daughter though may be reaching an age where she has to join society. It is a slow paced, but powerful film. All in all, I say: SEE IT
Spider-Man: Homecoming
I skipped this Marvel movie in the series, but after the last Avengers movie I felt like I was missing a little something. Sure enough seeing this movie cleared up some questions I had about Spider-Man and Iron Man. It mainly about Spider-Man dealing with his new powers, but the new restraints of not being able to do whatever he wants in fighting crime because there are consequences. All in all, I say: SEE IT if you plan on doing the Marvel series...don't skip one.
Tau
A made for Netflix film about a "mad" scientist played by Ed Skrein (the new Transporter - who does ZERO martial arts for this film unfortunatly. He has been testing some new technology illegally on people. One woman it turns out is way too much for him to handle. She begins to interact with the AI who runs the house/lab voiced by Gary Oldman (The Professional). She teaches the AI so much that he finally agrees to help her escape at risk to his own life. It's a moreal dilemma for both her and the AI when things go wrong. It makes you think...All in all, I say: SEE IT if you like science fiction and like debate the idea of AI has "human".
The Spy Who Dumped Me
Mila Kunis (Bad Moms) and Kate McKinnon (SNL) are best friends getting by in LA, nothing too exciting. That is until they decide to burn an ex-boyfriends stuff. Justin Theroux (Charlie's Angels) is more than just an ex-boyfriend; he's a spy. The two end up in the middle of an international spy ring, but with the help of Sam Heughan (Outlander) they might live to see another day. His English accent is pretty good. Bonus - Jane Curtain (SNL), Paul Reiser (Mad About You), and Gillian Anderson (x-files) also appear. The bantor between the 2 women is what makes the movie a fun night out and funny. It's not really about the plot. All in all, I say: SEE IT
Dog Days
Oviously, it's more about people than dogs. A young man needs to help with literature and he meets an old lit profesor who has lost his zeal for living. A tv host finds her boyfriend cheating, but her new co-host will help her find love again. An aimless guy in a band grows up. An aimless young woman thinks looks are what she wants in a man instead she meets a real man who helps her find her path. A new couple have just adopted a youn girl and they will find a way to connect and become a family. In the center of all of it are dogs...the understanding, companionship, and the way they force us be more responsible. I cried for about the last half hour. There are some recognizable comedians in this - I don't really want to give anyone away. It more fun to wait and see who would appear. All in all, I say: SEE IT.
